Board of Governors Anastasios Petros Stefopou Posted October 29, 2017 at 07:33 PM Board of Governors Posted October 29, 2017 at 07:33 PM Dear all, As each year, for once more VATSIM Worldflight event is about to start ! Please see below the latest release regarding Worldflight 2017, which kicks off on 4th November 2017 at 2200z. As you know Worldflight is one of the highlights of our event calendar but also one of our most challenging, particularly in less developed areas of VATSIM which receive traffic levels during the event hugely disproportionate to what they are accustomed to. Please take a little bit of time to ensure local teams have the support they need in place to prepare for this undertaking, and share this update with your teams. • The full release is here: https://www.vatsim.net/news/worldflight-2017 • The full detail of each leg can be found at https://www.worldflight.com.au/ops/schedule/ Worldflight is an annual, week-long "round the world" flight which takes place on the VATSIM network. A number of teams based across the world fly a number of fix-based simulators on VATSIM across the world to raise money for different charities. The beauty of the event is that all VATSIM members are invited to join the teams in this challenge, and every year the skies of VATSIM are filled as hundreds of pilots join the effort, supported by highly trained local ATC to guide them. Full detail information regarding one of VATSIM’s biggest annual event can be found at https://www.worldflight.com.au/ Finally, I would like to remind , as each year, there are specific dedicated teams of experienced Air Traffic Controllers that participate into this big scale event, providing ATC services around the clock , 24 hours a day. A waiver for these teams takes place that allows them to control only for this specific event across VATSIM network and Divisions. Kindly inform your Division and members of this waiver for Worldflight 2017 event. Ofcourse, local ATC and members have priority into coming online and provide ATC services at their home Division or vACC, hence feel free to schedule online ATC services for Worldflight! Above all, please have fun everyone and enjoy one of VATSIM’s biggest global event! Thank you for your kind attention and for your amazing dedication! VACC Austria booked LOWI_APP months ago and then we faced a block of the station by a waiver. We organized a real ATC to care for that station and it was not possible to staff a station in our own airspace Not the best way! Although this thread is not the proper one to mention what happened at LOWI Austria, I suggest the best action would be to check it with Europe Division Director .
