Justin Mith 969244 Posted May 27, 2006 at 06:14 PM Posted May 27, 2006 at 06:14 PM Hi VATSIMers. I am having trouble getting started online. I downloaded all of the software and went in to FS2004 and created a flight as I usually do. I then started Skwkbox 3 and initialized the multiplayer connection. However, when I went to hit "connect" once in SkwkBox there was no information availible for the server. I would type in a IP address for a server and ended up receiving "invalid argument" or "server host not found." Any solutions? Thanks!
Oliver Smith Posted May 27, 2006 at 08:49 PM Posted May 27, 2006 at 08:49 PM This seams like a strange problem as normally I would think that it gets these servers from the internet on startup, but if it doesn't maybe you can try entering one of these server ip's: http://www.vatsim.net/data/who_vatsim.html and then try hitting connect. I would also check if your behind a firewall that could be blocking squawkbox3 from the internet, or a firewall on your router. If all of this doesn't work try FSInn. Lennart Vedin Posted May 27, 2006 at 09:11 PM Posted May 27, 2006 at 09:11 PM As i understand no firewall will prevent connect SB3 (= SquawkBox 3) to a server because it is a pure TCP-client (except for the voice that is UDP), while it may be required to open UDP port 3290 to receive voice not broken. While firewall in computer may cause problem for internee connection SB3 to FS. Router does not cause internee connection problem to FS. If you have firewall in router, then do disable your firewall in computer. Also remember never connect to internet without firewall. While you can (with very low risk) connect to vatsim without anti-virus. anti-virus can also cause internee connection problem to FS. Or connection problem SB3 to Server. As i understand, default download and install of SB3 does not require nothing more to connect. However you can enter an IP-address direct in SB3 e.g. 80.249.98.88 for UK-server, see vatsim "Who's on line". / Lennart Vedin /
