Pedro Azevedo 983333 Posted March 29, 2007 at 02:29 PM Posted March 29, 2007 at 02:29 PM Dear Sir, We are a virtual airline from Portugal, who recently joined VATSIM. At the present we are over 40 active pilots who fly on both networks ivao and VATSIM, and as well highly qualified ATC members, whom are receiving they're atc rating request from the transfer from IVAO to Vatsim This e-mail is to ask you kindly of the availability of the region of Cape Verde, as we have some people who lived in cape verde, and have a lot more people interested to fly to Cape Verde. if it is possible to open a VATSIM VACC-Cape Verde region. We are equipped with staff and regional charts, sector files and highly qualified atc, and we would gladly bring that part of Africa and to VATSIM, alive, having therefore the guarantee that we would cover the region with our members in the most polite way and strickt way of VATSIM. We are also aware that a lot of pilots are manifesting they're desire to fly from and to Cape-Verde, ever since there is a very strong cultural connection between Portugal and Cape Verde, but due to the lack of ATC coverage, pilots don't get encouraged to fly to and from Cape Verde. Please see to this matter as we are a full responsible team, as you can see at www.rallyeair.com. And we are taking this in an outmost professional way. Awaiting your reply and comments, With our most respected regards, RallyeAir team. Leslie Jarrett 913775 Posted March 25, 2008 at 08:22 AM Posted March 25, 2008 at 08:22 AM I would like to suggest the formation of the Indian Ocean Division of VATAME comprising the following FIR Antananarivo FIR FMMM Mauritius FIR FIMM Seychelles FIR FSSS This would cover the Indian Ocean area of VATAME from the north to the south as a logical division. There are not that may airports , however it does form a large part of the VATAME airspace. In the area you will have several home hubs of airlines the largest being Air Mauritius. Obviously the decision to create such a division will need to be done at the management level of VATAME and possibly needs VATSIM Board approval as well. Personally I think it is a good idea and as I have indicated my wish to control in Mauritius and fly in Vatsim under the MK (Air Mauritius callsign) you can get my 100% support for this. Norman Blackburn Posted March 25, 2008 at 09:19 AM Posted March 25, 2008 at 09:19 AM fly in Vatsim under the MK (Air Mauritius callsign) Leslie, The MK code is what you see on your ticket and used by the airline industry where it is public facing. Two letter airline codes are issued by IATA. Flight plans, ATC etc however use the ICAO code which is MAU. That is what you should be logging onto VATSIM with. Leslie Jarrett 913775 Posted March 25, 2008 at 09:33 AM Posted March 25, 2008 at 09:33 AM Thank you Norman for the correction I was using MK as a Flight number i.e. MK2509 and it shows as Air Mauritius in Servinfo. I do apologise if I have confused anybody with this.

Thomas Mathieu 998318 Posted June 12, 2008 at 12:33 AM Posted June 12, 2008 at 12:33 AM Dear VATSIM community, I am pleased to announce the full establishment of the VATSIM Central Africa Division. More than a year of hard work from a lot of dedicated people helped make this milestone for VATSIM possible. Our website: www.vatcaf.com is up and running and is loaded with the latest info for pilots and controllers. We are working hard to update the site with as much info as possible to provide a great environment for our community. The goal for VATCAF is to provide realistic air traffic control services and promote people from the local community to join in the fun. One of the greatest barriers to VATSIM is the lack of information and charts for Central Africa. We are working daily to update VATCAF with the lastest information. VATCAF now has three active vACC's. They are Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Ghana. There are several new virtual airlines operating in Central Africa as well. I thank all the people who have worked really hard to establish VATCAF. As Director, I will see to it that thier efforts were not wasted. If you have not flown in Central Africa before, we invite you to come fly with us. Best Regards, Thomas Mathieu VATAME1 Region Director VATSIM Africa Middle East http://www.vatame.net [email protected]
