Sergey Ershov 1380460 Posted April 11, 2018 at 11:11 AM Posted April 11, 2018 at 11:11 AM Hi everybody! I just wanted to ask if CPDLC is going to be used in CTP 2018, and if so, which controllers will use it? This would be a great addition to realism in this event. Thanks! Ryan Geckler Posted April 11, 2018 at 07:28 PM Posted April 11, 2018 at 07:28 PM It's not being officially supported, but some facilities may choose to use it. Don't have a list of those. Magnus Meese Posted April 12, 2018 at 02:20 PM Posted April 12, 2018 at 02:20 PM Most likely no, I'm definitely not. You have a hard enough time as a controller just keeping tabs on the guys who know oceanic procedures during CTP, counting the guys who're doing their first oceanic flight during CTP (Yes... people do that.) it's even more exhausting. Adding in clunky third party software will not make our day any better, so any sane controller will just not do that. On a normal NAT-session, sure. CTP, no. Chriss Klosowski Posted April 13, 2018 at 03:07 AM Posted April 13, 2018 at 03:07 AM Personally won't be using on on CTP for the Atlantic. Will cause major problems as we will all be using different sources to keep our position reports, clearances and when it comes to "transferring" the details of an aircraft on his journey over the Atlantic and the next station doesn't have the same software major confusion...
