Angelo Maligalig Posted May 6, 2018 at 01:30 AM Posted May 6, 2018 at 01:30 AM Can you apply for two ATO's, like for example you applied for VATSTAR then you applied again for Virtual UA?
Dace Nicmane Posted May 6, 2018 at 09:00 AM Posted May 6, 2018 at 09:00 AM No problem with that. Not all ATOs offer all the ratings, so you even need several ones.
Board of Governors Simon Kelsey Posted May 6, 2018 at 11:21 PM Board of Governors Posted May 6, 2018 at 11:21 PM BUT... check any prerequisites with the ATO you are planning to do your next rating with. Remember the PTD syllabi are a minimum standard/baseline and the level of training you receive from any particular ATO can and does vary from the bare minimum with little or no human involvement with you as a trainee, up to a more comprehensive level where you might be flying with an instructor on a regular basis. It shouldn't be too much of an issue, but obviously any particular ATO is liable to have an entire programme of training built around the ratings they offer, and obviously they will know specifically what their trainees will have covered and what standard they will be at at any given point, whereas a trainee joining from another ATO is more of an unknown quantity. For example, I know that the baseline standard of handling ability that our P2/P3 students will have is of a sufficient level to enable them to tackle the P5, the specific subject material we cover and the pace at which we deliver it. I cannot necessarily guarantee that of students from other ATOs, so whilst we do accept those who have gained their P2 and P3 ratings elsewhere, it is something that we're keeping an eye on in these early stages of offering the rating and if we identify a pattern of knowledge/skill gaps then it may be that we plan additional sessions for those non-BAV (in terms of where they gained their ratings) trainees in future and/or re[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ess whether we can accept them on to the course at all. I hope that doesn't turn out to be the case and there's no signs at the moment to suggest it will be. Certainly it's far easier from an ATO point of view to have students all the way through; obviously if your ATO doesn't offer a particular rating then that's different! Robert Shearman Jr Posted May 6, 2018 at 11:53 PM Posted May 6, 2018 at 11:53 PM It's no problem from our standpoint if you elect to pick-and-choose. But, is Virtual UA even active? They haven't awarded a rating since September of 2015. Cheers, -R.
