David Williamson 1019970 Posted May 25, 2018 at 04:14 PM Posted May 25, 2018 at 04:14 PM Hi Can anyone tell me what FSD & an FSD Server is? Is it anything to do with VATSIM My VA - FlyUK - have FSD an event tomorrow & I'm not sure what that is. I've posted a similar question on their forum too. Norman Blackburn Posted May 25, 2018 at 05:00 PM Posted May 25, 2018 at 05:00 PM Hello David, FSD is a type of server - Flight Simulator Daemon The one used by VATSIM is heavily modified and as such, things like vPilot will not work with a private server such as your VA seems to be using. Kieran Samuel Cross Posted May 25, 2018 at 07:34 PM Posted May 25, 2018 at 07:34 PM things like vPilot will not work with a private server The protocol stays the same throughout - vPilot certainly works with the regular FSD server, although there's no way of explicitly connecting to a non-VATSIM server through vPilot. Other clients such as FSInn (or even EuroScope, VRC etc) will allow connection to the FSD server. The only caveat being voice communication will not work as usual. Kind Regards, Kieran Cross,
Ross Carlson Posted May 25, 2018 at 08:18 PM Posted May 25, 2018 at 08:18 PM The protocol stays the same throughout - vPilot certainly works with the regular FSD server That was true of older versions of vPilot, but not with more recent ones.
