Dear pilots!

As you all certainly know, this summer (14 June - 15 July) 11 Russian cities will host the most important sport event of the past 4 years - 'FIFA World Cup 2018' - the event that connects all the fans wherever they are and no matter what's going on in the world.

The VATSIM Russian division can’t stay away of it.

Before the World Cup will begin, fans will spread over Russian cities to watch their National teams' games. We would like to invite you to do the same on VATSIM.

This will happen on June, 10th from 14 till 19 UTC. Eleven cities (13 airports) will be online at that time. They are:

Moscow (UUEE, UUDD, UUWW)

Saint Petersburg (ULLI)

Kaliningrad (UMKK)

Kazan (UWKD)

Nizhniy Novgorod (UWGG)

Samara (UWWW)

Volgograd (URWW)

Rostov-on-Don (URRP)

Saransk (UWPS)

Sochi (URSS)

Ekaterinburg (USSS)

Iran vACC will also take part in the event. Their team will play at least 3 games in the different cities.

Fly to the World Cup 2018! Everybody is welcome!

P.S. Stick around... We'll be right back with several NOTAMs

NOTAM USSS

1. AIRAC 1804 or later is highly insisted

2. Runway 08L/26R – for arrivals and departures.

3. Expect XXX5R or XXX5S arrivals for ILS W approach to RW08L/26R

4. We use PMS (Point Merge System) type of approach, so get ready to be directed to IAF or even IF

5. You must choose appropriate IAF (the last point of STAR) in your CDU to fly ILS W approach part correctly (Boeing – right TRANS, Airbus – VIA).

Here is the example for RW26R

6. We still use QFE and meters below transition level. Here is the altitude/height QNH/QFE conversion table for USSS

7. There is no any scenery with actual parking stands numeration and location, so do not use actual charts for parking. Here’s the chart for both existing sceneries and ATC sectors files:

UUWV FIR NOTAM

1. In Russia, we still use QFE and meter below transition level (in Moscow TMA – FL60). On each page in Jeppesen charts you can find "Alt-Height Conversion table". If ATC said you to descend XXX meters by QFE, you can continue flying by QNH, but altitude set on MCP will be different.

2. Since AIRAC 1805 cycle at Sheremetyevo (UUEE) were fully changed STARs. We recommend updating your aircraft’s database to current cycle (1806).

3. At other airports, Domodedovo and Vnukovo (UUDD, UUWW), for arrival we use transition routes and then STARs. Transitions start on the border of Moscow TMA, and end on the border of airport area (Radar Approach).

You can get arrival clearance like this:

AFL123, expect ILS approach, runway 32L, via GEKLA 32 K arrival, and FK1D transition.

To choose it in your FMC you need:

Airbus – On the right side, choose TRANS, Boeing – on the left side after choosing STAR. Trans called like FK1D, SUG1W, etc. (D and W means Domodedovo and Vnukovo)

In Sheremetyevo now there are no transitions, new RNAV STARs begin from border of Moscow TMA. You can expect transition and then STAR (they all are “by ATC”) only if you can’t proceed standard RNAV STAR.

4. Don’t forget to choose IAF (Initial Approach Fix) in your FMC. You can find their names on charts).

To choose it you need:

Airbus – choose VIA on the arrival page, Boeing – on the right side after choosing STAR. For RNAV STARs in Sheremetyevo, for example, there are three IAFs – UM (RW 24L/C), RUGEL (RW 06R/C), BALRA (both).

5. In Sheremetyevo Northern runway 06L/24R is closed. It is still constructing and not ready to work.

6. In Domodedovo, eastern runway 14L/32R is under reconstruction and using only for departures and RNAV-approaches. There are no navigational aids. Therefore, main runway-in-use is 14R/32L. Practically, in Domodedovo we use single runway operations.

Have a good flights!
