PTT, without using keyboard

Hey Ross or anyone on the development team...

I was wondering if this is possible: Having the ability to specify in vrc to use a push to talk button outside the keyboard. For ex, instead of holding the cntrl key you can simple press a button on the joystick, right next to you which isnt being used...

If its possible, I would love that as an option for vrc!

I believe this was mentioned somewhere in the VRC forums about using a mouse button as a PTT, not sure on the status of it though.

I'm intrigued as to why you would want to use a ptt on a joystick when controlling. For me it would mean repeatedly moving my hands away form the keyboard when I'm typing and slow things down.

When I had a five button mouse, I used to have one button configured as the ptt (that was in the days of ProController). I can't remember how I did it though.

well yeah, a 5 button mouse would be a similar thing. but when im holding down for instance cntrl, and i try to type something to another pilot, or switch windows to edit a file plan its very hard, or impossible to do.

I was wondering if theres an option to use a button not on the keyboard, or the 2 mouse buttons to use for ptt

Why dont you just use a key binding program? Make a certain mouse button simulate pressing I dunno, CTRL or some other obscure non-used key like `

Ross, what about different PTT for G/G and A/G? or different audio devices for A/G and G/G?

This sounds like two very good topics that seem more relevant in the VRC forums as opposed to the "VRC Help" forum here on the VATSIM forums. I'm not trying to cease conversation here, just suggesting that these suggestions and comments are more likely to be noted within the VRC forum: http://www.metacraft.com/VRC/forums/

I'm interested in this topic as well...

Regards,

Jason

If you want a joystick button or axis as a PTT, download this- http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm. I've used it to setup a foot pedal as a PTT.
