Craig Lister 1213875 Posted July 13, 2018 at 10:37 PM Posted July 13, 2018 at 10:37 PM Hey chaps, When I want to go Airport A to Airport B, I use http://onlineflightplanner.org/ That works... But the flight I want to do today, well, I want the scenic route. I can go direct over land... but I want to go the coastal route. The eastern coast of Australia is pretty cool. So, is there a site where I can see possible waypoints along the way, so that I can make my own route?
Sean Harrison Posted July 14, 2018 at 01:54 AM Posted July 14, 2018 at 01:54 AM Craig, Have you seen this https://skyvector.com/ May help. Sean C1/O P3
Craig Lister 1213875 Posted July 14, 2018 at 03:42 AM Author Posted July 14, 2018 at 03:42 AM Thanks Sean. I saw that, and have looked at it. Maybe I am misunderstanding waypoints, but it seems they only have major ones? For example, one of the approaches into my local (YBBN - Brisbane) is LEAKY -> BOATS -> SINNK. Those are 3 waypoints. Skyvector seems to not display these. Are there different types of waypoints?
Sean Harrison Posted July 14, 2018 at 06:54 AM Posted July 14, 2018 at 06:54 AM Yer sorry Craig, Skyvector only displays airway related waypoints (intersections). It can still locate the others, it just doesn’t display them. Try typing in SINNK and the cross hair will go to it, but you just can’t see it. That’s how you can also get the LAT/LONG for it. The are payware programs like FSCommander and some freeware like http://vfrflight.org/en/index.html Also on the VATPAC website there is some good guidance and suggestions; https://vatpac.org/pilots/flight-planning/ Hope that helps.
