will appreciate recommendations so I can be an observer ATC. would like to see what ATC sees for a change.

Naturally, my recommendation is EuroScope. You can download it from it's website, http://www.euroscope.hu/. It's got wiki pages, which are pretty detailed.

 

There's also Virtual Radar Controller (VRC). You can download it from it's website, http://www1.metacraft.com/VRC/. It's docomeentation is really good.

 

It kind of depends however, where you wanted to observe. Many places in Europe make use of EuroScope (the name kinda fits). That being said, most of the Americas use VRC. You'd be best of going onto the vACC/ARTCC website, and following their guide.

 

There are a few others, but they're more vACC/ARTCC specific - not many use them, from what I know.
