Deacon Barry 952424 Posted June 19, 2006 at 05:55 PM Posted June 19, 2006 at 05:55 PM Hi, I have used VRC since the day it was released and think it is a superb piece of software. However, if I were to resolve this niggling issue, it would be absolutely perfect. I know people have previously experienced voice issues, however they seem mostly to come down to the router, which I don't have, so I think mine may be different. I connect to VATSIM using VRC, set up Prim. Freq. route sound through headset etc., as normal. However as soon as someone attempts to transmit voice on the frequency, the voice conenction 'cuts out' at my end (they can hear me, but I can't hear them). The only way to resolve this is to disconnect, quickly reconnect, re-setup Prim. Freq, then everything works as normal. I understand the previous isues have been resolved by forwarding and opening the necessary voice ports through one's router, but I don't have one (as far as I'm aware anyway). I am using, however, Norton Internet Security, with the firewall turned on. I ahve set it to allow all connections from VRC, but the problem still occurs. So, rather than telling me just to get rid of Norton , I was wondering if anyone knew specifically how to forward/open the necessary voice ports (and what ones theya re) using the Norton Firewall. If anyone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it. Many thanks
Ross Carlson Posted June 19, 2006 at 06:19 PM Posted June 19, 2006 at 06:19 PM Have you tried completely disabling Norton just to make sure that it's the cause? Here are the ports: http://www.metacraft.com/VRC/docs/doc.php?page=installing_or_upgrading_vrc Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Deacon Barry 952424 Posted June 29, 2006 at 05:58 PM Author Posted June 29, 2006 at 05:58 PM Hi Ross, Very sorry for the late reply, kind of forgot about the thread I think I may have solved the problem. I disabled Norton firewal, am now using XP Firewall with all ports allowed. BUT, I don't think that was the problem in the first place. I think the problem was that the frequency I was using was the second one down on the Comms panel (reason for this being I had typed an incorrect frequency in 1st one by mistake, then entered the correct freq. in the next box down, but never deleted the incorrect one). I think that may have been the problem since I have now changed that aswell. Not sure what you think about this one, but at least the problem's solved now And I can go back to using this superb program fully funcitonally. Many thanks, Deacon
