Fred Clausen Posted June 20, 2006 at 06:56 PM Posted June 20, 2006 at 06:56 PM Come fly into ZAB on Sunday, June 25th between 20:00zand 202:30z to try and BUST ZAB at KPHX! ZAB has put some amazing effort on the controller side to provide you with almost continuous ATC services, and we figured we'd like to challenge pilots to see if they could make us cry Uncle! The first week ZAB put up 159 hours of ATC, and in the second week we anticipate another strong show of at LEAST 100 hrs. We'd like to challenge pilots to put enough tin across KPHX runways to equal or exceed the number of hours we controlled. Eg, if we get 250 hours of ATC on center, we're challenging pilots to land or take off and land at KPHX least 250 times. You up to the challenge? Owen Catherwood 903683 Posted June 20, 2006 at 09:28 PM Posted June 20, 2006 at 09:28 PM You'll need another 45 minutes to an hour if you're wanting us to have a chance to beat 250hrs Optimal arrival rate for PHX is 76 a/c per hour in VFR conditions landing West, so 250 aircraft / 76 aircraft per hour is approx 3.29 hours. If we do it in less time than that, the FAA would like to have a word on why the real-world can only do 76/hour under ideal conditions source *edit* if it's until 02:30Z, then we have a chance KZSE C3/Facilities Administrator

Oh I'm sorry . . . actually not really. . . that YOU took what I wrote as something being serious, and that you had to defend your post by indicating it as a joke. What gave you the impression that I didn't understand it was a joke? I was simply clarifying for you.
