My brother, who wants to fly on VATSIM is having trouble with his comp. He can't go online, the reason, is because "the network couldn't renew the IP address." Any ideas?

John it sounds like he has issues unrelated to Vatsim. I suspect he doesn't have internet access at all when this happens either? Are you both at the same location on the same network or is he remote?

I can't answer that for you without knowing quite a bit more. I see a call to your ISP in your future. If you are running off of a network of their configuration, they will be able to provide a solution. If you stuck a router between you and your ISP's equipment, that is where you'll you'll find the problem. Something either locally at your house (your router) or further up the line (their router/server) is probably supposed to hand out IP addresses.

If you call up your isp remember this.... talk in an indian accent, they understand you better im serious, i did it and it works...

Elliot, while obviously a stab at a joke, that stereotype is quite offensive and probably should be revoked by yourself ASAP.
