AI behind

Hi all!

As I’m flying military formations with my friend sometimes it’s quit annoying when the AI (in my case him and for him it’s me) is behind where it should be.

Let’s make an example, say that we are departing, so when I am airborne on my side, he still sees me as on the ground taking off.

I guess there is no solution to make it work better? Or is it?

Noel, you will find this is very hard to get around unless you have a Direct peer to peer connection.

The VATSIM servers for the most, cannot transfer data fast enough for formation flying. Having said that if you are both on the same server and condition are right, it can be acceptable. FSInn used to allow peer to peer connections whilst connected to VATSIM so formation and AAR flights were much better visually.

Really, in my opinion, the only way is to do it on a dedicated server off line. This would be a fantastic feature in any pilot client in development. Allow two pilots to peer to peer for close flying, like FSInn used to.

I believe many of the organisations which do this sort of thing regularly use software like JoinFS to give them smooth position updates amongst themselves and connect to the network in parallel using their normal pilot client.
