VASFMC and Squawk C

I tried to fly my first VATSIM flight with VASFMC, but I ran into an issue where I could not squawk C on vpilot. Once I searched in this forum and figured out the issue in vasfmc settings, everything seemed fine, until I was airborne and tried to go direct to a fix as [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned by ATC. But my FMC was giving me an "FMC NOT ACTIVE" message! What could be my issue?

Joseph,

It has been many years since I used vasFMC, but when I did it almost always worked flawlessly for me. My only issue with it was the INIT Fuel Bug, but I believe that got fixed with version 2.1 of the FMC.

You mention using it with vPilot. I used it with FSInn and seem to recall there was a setup setting to let the FMC determine squawk mode or set the mode yourself. You seem to have fixed that issue. What you don't say is which aircraft you are using this with...it works best with the pre-installed version found in the Project Airbus suite of aircraft like the A320 available for download from AVSIM and other Flightsim sites. You can also find preconfigured aircraft here...

Next question is what simulator platform? FSX, FSX-SE, P3D, FS2004, xPlane? I [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume one of the FSX versions or P3D since you are using vPilot, which does not work with xPlane or FS2004.

This is a very educational video on setting up your flight in vasFMC with version 2.1 that you might find beneficial

One final question...you mention that ATC gave you a "direct to" instruction to a fix. Was that fix part of the original flightplan you had in vasFMC? Was this "Direct To" given during your departure or had you been navigating by the vasFMC up until that point in your plan and then it only stopped functioning when you entered the "Direct To"?

I wish I could be of more help, but I switched from vasFMC after using it for years in FS2004 to Ernie Alston's payware ISG-1 FMC Suite for those aircraft not already configured with a functioning and updateable FMC.

I was using the default 737-800 in FSX SE. The fix (JDUBB) was part of the JDUBB departure out of KIAD...I was given a heading of 250 after takeoff from runway 30, standard procedure from KIAD. I experienced problems with using vasfmc in a panel (Default A321 panel but with Project Airbus A320)...when I tried to add to an existing panel it went black. When I tried to use the panel it came with, I couldn't get the autopilot to do anything (on the ground)
