Matthew Jordan 919403 Posted June 23, 2006 at 07:38 PM Posted June 23, 2006 at 07:38 PM Today I was flying, and everything went ok. I had some turbulence because a storm ws rolling in. I was flying for Providen(KPVD) to Newark Liberty (KEWR). Anyway, the storm diverted me to another transition, and i do it fine. I get to SAX VOR and NY CTR nor NY APP is not online, so i switch to UNICOM on 122.8. I start the approach and announce my intentions and was turning final for 22L, again announcing intentions, when i get PM'd with a message from a pilot saying that he didn't hear my first intentions when turnig onto app and that i should have report positions/intentions more regularly. Now i'm getting frustrated, cause i'm trying to do an ILS app, BY HAND, and at the same time type to this guy. Now he says he can report me to VATSIM if i crash into him. 3 Questions: a) How can i tell if my transmission went through, b) How often are you really suppose to announce position/ intentions on UNICOM c) can he really report me if i didn't intentionally crash into him? Jay Hsu 926068 Posted June 23, 2006 at 08:13 PM Posted June 23, 2006 at 08:13 PM a) PM an aircraft you see nearby or see on servinfo and ask them. Also, check if you have the frequency in tune to 122.80. b) There really is no set limit to this, but you should announce your intentions and also the route when you taxi, takeoff, climb, descend, and are on approach and final. This way, aircraft nearby can know where you are presently and where you plan to be in order to avoid you. c) I'm not too sure about this one, but if you did not announce your intentions and you crash into him, he could take action.
