Something extraordinary will happen in the Italian vACC today. It may look like the "Normal" city link, yet we give you the oppurtunity to count double. This is because we will have 2 Approach examinations during the same event!

Thats right, both Milano Radar (LIMM_N_APP) and Olbia Radar (LIEO_APP) (now called Roma Radar) will be seeing students ready to be put under pressure to show us what they have learned!

The Milano area includes three airports; Malpensa (LIMC) which is the second biggest airport in Italy, Linate (LIML) a regional airport that also allows executive and general aviation flights, and finally Bergamo (LIME) with its procedural ILS for RWY28 is a big hub for Ryanair and cargo aircraft!

Olbia (LIEO) on the other hand just got merged with Rome Radar, with that they implemented all new RNAV arrivals to better handle traffic and let the p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]engers have a beautiful sight of the north of Sardinia with the Maddalena archipelago.

Sunday 30th September

15.00-17.00z (17.00-19.00lcl)

Bergamo Aerosoft

Malpensa Aerosoft

Olbia Aerosoft

Linate Napulevola (good freeware)

Charts: Italian AIP (free registration required)

What are you waiting for?

I may be wrong, but if you're talking about the calendar, I don't think that CPTs/OTSs get published there.

If I am wrong with this, feel free to let me know.

Me.

I don't know about that, but I don't think that it's a good idea?

Why would they not be included? they still are events aren't they?

How may I expect to have enough traffic for the exam if people don't know about it?

Hello Alessandro,

Néstor is correct, CPTs do not get added to the VATSIM event calendar, as noted here https://www.dropbox.com/s/kzafrpj291e2sqa/Marketing%20your%20VATSIM%20event.pdf?dl=0 , at the end of the second page.

They still get shared on Twitter as far as I know (that one is not up to me).

I understand weekly events and non public VA flights, but exams.... I would appreciate the extra traffic...

Is there anyway I can get the communications dept to reconsider ignoring the exams?

You will most probably get a broadcast to all connected pilots/ATC when the exam begins, something that events don't get.

That is very nice, because then connected pilots and controllers give their best wishes to the examinee and such, but it is not very probable that it brings significant traffic for the exam.

If I am a controller who is logged and controlling I am not going to suddenly disconnect leaving traffic on its own, load up my sim and fly to an airport i've never seen before, in just a few hours.

If I'm a pilot, I am most likely either mid flight on the other side of Europe if not further away, or about to depart or land. Changing destination once connected is not something many users do. And even if I am a pilot that might've had the time and will to fly for the exam, most likely I will have missed the broadcast because I wasn't connected to the network yet.

Either way it is unlikely that the broadcast is an effective way of attracting traffic.
