here's the link: https://www.justflight.com/product/tss-boeing-747-ge-cf6-80c-pilot-edition-sound-package

I saw a video saying that the default planes in fsx are not advanced enough, apart from small Cessnas.

It said that I would need a payware plane, is the one I linked good?

Any help would mean a lot.

its a sound link dont worry

Hi Cameron,

the URL took me to a engine sound package only

In short: for your best experience I recommend an aircraft with a functional FMC that lets you insert and modify flightplans, departure, arrival and approach procedures.

You can use any aircraft you like on Vatsim. Now if the one you have has no FMC and you are navigating VOR to VOR that will limit your ability to navigate the way modern airliners to (to some extent) but generally you should be fine and controllers should be able to accommodate. I would personally recommend being able to at least use the default GPS to follow a route but its not required.

I am not sure about this addon's FMC capabilities. They write, that it has "limited functionality".

What you can try first is the following: get the freeware "LittleNavMap" (LNM) https://albar965.github.io/littlenavmap.html

You can connect it to your flight simulator and make it follow the route that you programmed in LNM! It will also know SIDs and STARs, so you can do complex things and see what's going on, because it also features a moving map. For starters this should do it. When you are ready for something more complex, save some money and try one of the addons that have built-in FMCs. Don't forget that you want to keep your navigation database up to date and buy those AIRAC navdata sets at least twice a year.

Cameron,

A free alternative that provides a functional FMC that can be brought up to date with a paid subscription through Navigraph is VasFMC. Just do a Google Search and you'll find plenty of links to the download, especially at Project Airbus. It is designed to fit almost perfectly in the A321 aircraft, but works well in just about any aircraft with a little work.

You mentioned $30 as your limit. For 21 Euros ($23.95 at the current exchange rate) you can buy Ernie Alstons Integrated Simavionics Group 1 FMS from Simarket and it comes with 4 or five different types of FMCs/MCDUs that can be placed in just about any panel you want and it, too, can be updated through Navigraph's paid subscription service. I have several payware aircraft with fully functional and up to date AIRAC cycles and then each and every one of my freeware tubeliners has the ISG1 in it and it works just as well as the "big boys/big toys".

Even then, there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the default FSX/P3D/xPlane aircraft and each and every one can be used to fly online on the VATSIM network and do not let any one tell you that you can't. As Mark said, your options will be more limited so be sure and read all the VATSIM Resources so you better understand what you can and will be able to do.

A fully functional FMC is best...the default GPS in FSX works as well, just not to the standards some might expect from you.

Welcome to VATSIM...I noticed no one had said that so I will. You're gonna love it...

Hi Cameron,

Randy made a very good suggestion. Since I converted from MSFS to X-Plane I completely forgot about ISG! They are great and you won't be disappointed. It may take a bit of fiddling to integrate those gauges into a given flightdeck, but on the forum and on the website of ISG there are plenty of ready-to-use panel.cfg files.

If you are interested in some cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ic jetliners for free, visit this place: https://simviation.com/hjg/

A few of them are for FS2004 only, but many are made for or compatible with FSX, they all come with cockpit panels. It is easy to replace gauges and fit ISG inside and you may find some config files that are ready to use, as mentioned in the previous paragraph.
