Tristan Garratt Posted October 29, 2018 at 07:27 AM Posted October 29, 2018 at 07:27 AM Hello! What is the deal with major and minor and solo endorsements, Here in vatpac, All we need is our S2 rating to control all airports other than procedural, which is a endorsement. Can someone explain the uses of these endorsements? Tristan Garratt VATPAC C1
Mats Edvin Aaro Posted October 29, 2018 at 08:46 AM Posted October 29, 2018 at 08:46 AM VATSIM's Global Ratings Policy describes what these officially recognized Major Airports are. Basically, you can think of them as airports with a lot of traffic, which might be challenging for newly endorsed controllers. To ensure that the Controller isn't overwhelmed With this, and to Ensure the pilots recieve the best service possible. Quote from VATSIM GRP 6.3A: "In some exceptional air traffic situations it may be necessary to create a designated 'Major Airport' that a new controller is unable to provide ATC service at to ensure that air traffic services at that airport are of a standard acceptable to pilots. There is no provision for the designation of airports other than establishing a designated 'Major Airport'." Controllers need to go through an endorsement and be listed on the roster to be able to control these airports. The official list is found in appendix B in the GRP.
