Johnathan McKiney 973523 Posted July 10, 2006 at 04:02 AM Author Posted July 10, 2006 at 04:02 AM Don't think I can apply for a posting yet. I'm just a student, still.. if I don't work DFW, I'll probably work Memphis-town. It's closest to where I Live IRL, too. Waitin' on the instructor to get in touch with me. Can anyone shed some light on why I can't get voice transmissions? I know I can't transmit, but I should be able to recieve... All my stuff has been set up to listen properly, too. I dunno what the trouble is. Anyone got suggestions?
Ryan Guffey 956726 Posted July 10, 2006 at 06:36 PM Posted July 10, 2006 at 06:36 PM I know that in Memphis you have to have like zme_133.65 in the voice channel to hear memphis center. and like zme_118.70 to here LIT_TWR... What goes in the voice channel differes from ATRCC to ARTCC. If in ZME you just put like MEM_E_CTR like most ARTCC's do, you wont here anything. Just check in the local SOP's the for the Artcc you are wishing to listen to. "Just a thought" VATSIM Supervisor

Johnathan McKiney 973523 Posted July 11, 2006 at 12:40 AM Author Posted July 11, 2006 at 12:40 AM Should I be worried that I've not heard from anyone except the Training Director yet? READ: I don't think Anthony's taking the challenge of being my actual instructor, and I don't think my instructor's contacted me yet. Should I be concerned? In ZOB, we do the facility (D21, DTW, PIT, CLE, or ZOB), then the frequency (ex. zob_134.90, d21_124.25, etc...). Some ARTCCs are migrating over to this format (most likely to avoid people interfereing w/ controlling). Johnathan McKiney 973523 Posted July 11, 2006 at 11:00 PM Author Posted July 11, 2006 at 11:00 PM I've resolved that there's a problem... not with my computer or my firewall settings - because I've tweaked as much as I can on my end. The problem has to lie within my ISP. Thanks for the help guys. I got an instructor, too! YAY.
