Mason McCall 1438364 Posted January 23, 2019 at 05:37 PM Posted January 23, 2019 at 05:37 PM Hello, I have a quick question regarding FSX, XPlane, and VATSIM. Is it possible to “crossplay,” so to speak, between FSX and XPlane? In essence, what I’m asking, is if it’s possible to do shared cockpit or even formation flight between someone on FSX and someone on XPlane. If so, then would everyone have to use the same software, such as vPilot? Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you!
Norman Blackburn Posted January 23, 2019 at 06:31 PM Posted January 23, 2019 at 06:31 PM Hello Mason, Whilst you couldnt do cross platform shared cockpit - at least not until the developers of the addon plane model the same aircraft with this in mind, it is possible to do formation flying. Be advised that the reality is though that formation flying would be difficult at best since vPilot, and Im sure XSB also, has a 5 second delay to allow the smoothing of position updates. You can of course fly normal ops very happily between FS9 through to P3D and XPlane right up to 11.3 (or later if available). Norman
Ross Carlson Posted January 23, 2019 at 08:14 PM Posted January 23, 2019 at 08:14 PM To elaborate on what Norman said, everyone connects to the same "virtual world" regardless of which simulator they are using, and regardless of which server they connect to. (All the servers are interconnected.) So if you connect with xplane using XSquawkbox, and I connect using P3D with vPilot, you and I will see each other just fine.
