Troy Raiteri 1367558 Posted February 5, 2019 at 04:26 AM Posted February 5, 2019 at 04:26 AM Hi all! I am trying to add a Embraer Phenom 100 line to my equipment list as I've read and seen on other forums and videos as E50P, EMBRAER, Embraer, Phenom, 100, L,J But when I open Squawkbox in FSX and go try to find the line I just put in the list I cannot find it anywhere and I've tried anything I can think of. Never tried putting in new aircraft like this ever before on Squawkbox and would like to understand what I'm doing wrong considering I'm seeing other fliers on VAT-Spy with "E50P" and other newer aircraft. I believe I am also running Squawkbox 10 if that helps any Many thanks!
Joshua Jenkins Posted February 5, 2019 at 05:43 AM Posted February 5, 2019 at 05:43 AM Hi Troy, I'll do my best to enlighten you on the issue "E50P" and other newer aircraft. I don't think Squawkbox lists the 100 series unfortunately due to the reason you pointed out. Squawkbox is simply an old piece of software. Although here is probably someway to add it in there, that is beyond my scope of knowledge. However, it really doesn't make that much of a difference to us controllers here on VATSIM if you file as an E135 instead of an E50P. The main reason for us knowing the types of aircraft are for weight category (light, medium, heavy, and super) and speeds (e.g. you can't ask a c172 to increase speed to 160 knots). But the performance of an E135 or something similar would be very comparable to an E50P. would like to understand what I'm doing wrong considering I'm seeing other fliers on VAT-Spy with "E50P" and other newer aircraft. You aren't necessarily doing anything wrong. This is just most likely because they are using a newer client such as vPilot (or maybe xSquawkbox but I don't know how updated that is for sure). vPilot allows you to define your aircraft code and doesn't rely on a preset list like Squawkbox. Unlike Squawkbox, it is also still supported and continually receives updates. I personally would highly recommend you switch to vPilot Cheers! Andreas Fuchs Posted February 5, 2019 at 08:56 AM Posted February 5, 2019 at 08:56 AM Huh, what is "Squawkbox 10"? The development of the original "Squawkbox" for FS9 and FSX ended at version 4.0. Can you please confirm what online client you are actually using? Should you be flying FSX and P3D, you better switch to "vpilot". This client is actively maintained by its author: http://vpilot.metacraft.com/ Cheers, Andreas Member of VATSIM GermanyMy real flying on InstagramMy Twitch streams of VATSIM flights and ATC
Troy Raiteri 1367558 Posted February 5, 2019 at 08:24 PM Author Posted February 5, 2019 at 08:24 PM Thanks for the replies. I've tried out vPilot and got what I wanted out of it but unfortunately I apparently ran into a comms issue with vPilot. I couldn't hear most of controllers (or traffic) back most of the time. I think I will go ahead and fly the E55P as a E135 on Squawkbox as I've had no problems on SB. And also I may be wrong about the version of SB I'm using I could be wrong it was just a file I found named in the folders and figured that was the version. Sorry for the confusion. Andreas Fuchs Posted February 5, 2019 at 08:59 PM Posted February 5, 2019 at 08:59 PM Hi Troy, I think you should rather invest some time and effort into making vPilot run on your system. The issue described by you sounds like your firewall closing UDP ports after a certain amount of idle-time. That may be the reason why your voice dies after some time, until you press your PTT key. viewtopic.php?f=132&t=64672 Q: After some number of minutes, I can no longer hear audio until I briefly press the transmit button. It is as if vPilot loses connection with the network but is then resolved immediately when I transmit. Any ideas?A: Ensure you've forwarded UDP port 3290 in your router, for routers that close the port after a timeout. (If you're not sure if yours does or not, it doesn't hurt to set up the forwarding for routers that don't have an inactivity timeout). Some Windows 10 users are finding that the Windows 10 Firewall is the culprit. If port forwarding alone doesn't solve the issue, try the following in Win10: Windows Settings > Network and Internet > Windows Firewall > Allow an App Through Firewall > (Admin Icon) Change Settings > scroll down to vpilot.exe > ensure both Private and Public are checked Q: I can't hear others, and I am using a router. Mike Lehkamp Posted February 7, 2019 at 08:04 AM Posted February 7, 2019 at 08:04 AM Stay with Squakbox. The only "true" trouble free client. My opinion before I get hammered. In fairness, I should offer I'm still using FS9 fluently and the other clients have been nothing but headaches. [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming your using FSX then you might have better results.
