Alex Evans 1447205 Posted February 6, 2019 at 12:06 AM Posted February 6, 2019 at 12:06 AM I just joined VATSIM today, activated my account and was emailed a user ID and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word (that I'm using to type this message, of course). I didn't see that there was anything else that I had to do. My plane is idling on the ramp in X-Plane 11, and I brought up XSquawkbox, chose CANADA and entered my user ID and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word. It connects to the server, but then I just get "ERROR: Invalid CID/p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word (6)" Is there another activation step, or do I have to wait a day or something? I don't even want to fly today, I just want to listen to the chatter and see how it all works! Thanks, Alex
Robert Shearman Jr Posted February 6, 2019 at 12:58 AM Posted February 6, 2019 at 12:58 AM Yes -- wait 24 hours for your login credentials to be p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed throughout the network. This time tomorrow it should work fine. Cheers, -R.
Alex Evans 1447205 Posted February 6, 2019 at 02:00 AM Author Posted February 6, 2019 at 02:00 AM OK, thanks. Since the forum login worked, I [Mod - Happy Thoughts]umed the sim login would work as well. Probably designed to keep banned players from jumping right back in with a newly created account, I would [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume. See you in the skies tomorrow! Kenneth Haught Posted February 6, 2019 at 09:06 PM Posted February 6, 2019 at 09:06 PM It takes time for your information to be propagated through the entire server network. The network consists of many individual servers which drive the website, FSD (actual "do stuff servers"), stats, etc...these update every so often, so it's not uncommon to be able to access a particular service but not others. You may even have found that by changing servers you could have been able to connect and fly as well. This is a great opportunity for you to make sure you're familiar with the "rules" which can be found primarily in the Code of Conduct (www.vatsim.net/coc) and the Pilot Resource Center (www.vatsim.net/prc) which will make your experience much more likely to start off on a good foot! Cheers, and welcome to VATSIM! Anchorage Deputy Air Traffic Manager VATSIM Senior Supervisor (Team 1) Have a question or concern? Email me at [email protected].
