Ready for one of the best experiences while flying over the Atlantic?

 

Gander Oceanic, in cooperation with the Moncton/Gander FIR and VATSPA, invite you to the Cross The Pond Lite, Eastbound edition! Depart Halifax in Canada early in the morning and arrive to Bilbao in Spain when it's already dark! We encourage you to come and fly this 6 hours hop, from Business Jets through A320's and B737's to B747's and A380's! Everyone can come with their favorite airplane and enjoy FULL ATC Service during the flight. Starting at 1300z, enjoy your radar services, and non-radar procedural control over the Atlantic, until 2100z. Do not forget to come, we are waiting for you!

Hey Eric, I can say there is going to be a Pilot Briefing, including Halifax Operations, Oceanic Procedures and Bilbao Operations. Link will be posted soon.

Thanks for organizing this event! Had ATC all the way (except for a few minutes in Moncton) to Bilbao. The poor approach controller at Halifax was all alone to handle departing and arriving traffic with IFR-clearances, ground movements and departure instructions. Another ATCO there would have been great! On top of it, we were about 5 pilots in the queue for departure and it took almost 40 minutes to get all of us out of Halifax for "departure separation". Really? Let people depart within 1 or 2 minutes of each other - the flights will sort out themselves later on by different cruising levels and speeds. There is no point for making separation already on the ground for so few pilots.

 

Oceanic worked well, I only wished they had CPDLC operating.

 

So, thanks again for delivering the event, it was a nice warmup for the Big One.
