Dulles, VA -- Today Capitol Logistics announces some changes to their fleet of freighter aircraft. The lone McDonnell Douglas MD-11 on lease from Sky Lease was returned to the lessor in Miami after Capitol decided not to exercise the option on the short term lease agreement reach last year.

Capitol CEO Tom Eddy states "The decision to move on from the MD-11 is a tough, but smart business decision at the current time, and gives us some increased flexibility to future acquisitions." Capitol Logistics had accomeulated nearly 150 hours on the MD-11 serving mostly transpacific route.

To replace the heavy lift capability, Capitol has entered into leasing agreements to reintroduce the world famous Boeing 747. Two aircraft, both 747-400BCF's will begin operations for Capitol in the near future and provide heavy freight capacity in place of the MD-11. One aircraft returns to the Capitol fleet after a nearly year absence, N791BA. "When we first started the airline, we had a short term wet lease agreement for her that really enabled us to get off the ground, figuratively and literally. Without the 747's capacity we would have been really struggling as a new start. We are very familiar with the aircraft, and we hope she will continue to serve us well in the years to come" Mr. Eddy stated.

A second 747-400BCF will arrive in early April after a long term dry lease agreement was reached with a major aircraft supplier. The contract also grants a unilateral option to Capitol Logistics for a third 747 should the need arise within the next few months.

The 747-400BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter), formerly known as the 747-400SF (Special Freighter), is a conversion program for standard p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]enger 747-400s.
