Hi, I'm totaly new to VATSIM, and wanting to fly online in the worst way...

When I try to connect, I get a "connecting..." message, then "connected," followed by "Invalid CID/P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word." I'm inputting my VATSIM p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word correctly, as far as I know...

Is there another p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word I should be aware of?

Thanks for any help...

Dean

Have you made sure your p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word is entered correctly?

Check here - enter your ID, and when you're presented with the information, you can eMail yourself a reminder

OK, got the p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word situation straightened out...once I figured out which string of numbers to enter! Trial and error works (almost) every time! I flew online the first time tonight, and got the text communication procedure locked (I think).

Now, I need to figure out the voice freq for my home area (San Jose, CA). Not so easy to fly and type at the same time!

The voice frequency as you've put it is only "on" when a controller has it selected as their Primary Frequency

In your case, if there is no local ATC coverage, you transmit on the text-only frequency of UNICOM - 122.8

Do not expect there to be specific coverage everywhere you fly - moreover you might find an enroute controller covering the airspace around your home field, but very rarely are all the positions in a certain area manned
