Rollover?

The GPS Week Number Rollover (WNRO) occurs every 19 years, with the next roll over taking place on 6 April 2019. Similar to odometers in older cars rolling over from 99,999 km to 0, the GPS WNRO is the resetting of the GPS calendar back to 0.

When the calendar resets, it can cause a miscommunication between GPS satellites and GPS receiver chips. As a result, some chips in satnavs will lose the ability to process certain functions.

What does this mean for you? It’s time to check your satnav. Depending on your device, you may need to update or upgrade.

Question ,Will this affect all GPS's in our aircraft?? ,Art

PS, Check you vehicle GPS!!

If your aircraft looks like this, you will need to update your GPS

If your aircraft looks like this, you don't need to do anything.

The aircraft on the top is made out of metal. It gets hot to touch when it's out in the sun. When you grab the wing between your thumb and fingers and rock it up and down a bit, you can hear the fuel inside the plane sloshing around. To get in the plane you grab on to a hand hold and put one foot up on the black area of the wing, and another on the foot strut and haul yourself up against the gravity of earth with muscle strength, and try to balance your legs and an arm so you don't fall over. You may need a key to unlock the door.

The aircraft on the bottom is made of computer code. There are .wav files that get generated out of your computer speakers when you start the engine. To get in the plane you double click an icon on your computer screen and wait for the program to load.

The GPS update will only effect the top aircraft.
