I know this has been asked before but I can't seem to find the fix for it. I'm running FS9 on XP and I keep on getting a user user32.dll error after I run squawkbox.

Please help me fix this...

Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm, I was trying to avoid using SBhost.exe. I like the in-screen feature.

My problem is that it works and sometimes it doesnt. Very inconsistant.

I sure understand that. The idea to try SBhost.exe, is to first confirm if it's acctually is the HostSB.dll problem.

It's typical for some HostSB.dll problem.

An other reason for inconsistant is router UPnP.

"In addition to all port setting, I set "UPnP disable" and it have help others to a stable connection."

Besides. If you have Graphic card with two video output, it's very comfortable to use two screens (a second hand screen cost not much).

Then it doesn't matter if running SBhost.exe .

This is if you have a router (or possible a multi-user modem).

You must get access to the router setup-menu (same where you set up the firewall for the router).

Then if your router has UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), it should be found in some place in the setup-menu.

How to do this depend of what router you have, if needed see your manual (or find the manual at the web-site for your router).

UPnP is the Universal Plug and Play service on your XP workstation.

To disable it:

1) Right click on My Computer and select MANAGE to open the Computer Management MMC

2) Double click (expand) the 'Services and Applications'

3) Click on Services

4) In the right panel, scroll down to Universal Plug and Play and double click it

5) On the properties screen, in the 'Startup Type:' set this to DISABLED

5a) If it is running, click on the STOP button to stop the UPnP service

6) Click OK

7) Close the 'Computer Management' MMC via File -> Exit or hit the X

You can do this for A LOT of the services on XP workstation in order to preserve memory and processing power.

OK, thanks now I understand there is two (or more) UPnP we speak about.

UPnP is also in routers, and it's comfirmed that is has cause problem on Vatsim.

It can not be wrong to disable the UPnP service in the XP, might help (Please say if it help).

No, this is not the correct service to disable (there actually is no service called this, although there is a "Universal Plug and Play Device Host"). This is the service that automatically detects devices when you plug them into your system (i.e.: printers, scanners, cameras, joysticks, mouse, etc.) and provides support for them, and has nothing to do with the issue.

The correct service that enables discovery of UPnP devices on your *network* (not local system) is called "SSDP Discovery Service".

Proper procedures to disable are as follows:

1.) Go to your start menu, and select "Run..."

2.) Type "services.msc"

3.) Right click on "SSDP Discovery Service" and select "Properties"

4.) Change the startup type to "Disabled"

5.) click the "Stop" button

NOTE: You will need to be logged in as an administrator on the machine in order to do this.

BTW, I doubt disabling this service will solve this particular issue. This solution is a work-around for FS9 users having trouble with FS locating the MP session created by SBRelay (so, in other words, if you're getting DLL errors, crashes, etc., don't count on this solving your problem).

The "Universal Plug and Play Device Host is used to Host the PnP devices for other computers to see and use. You're thinking of the "Plug and play" service
