Joaquin Blanco Posted April 15, 2019 at 06:44 PM Posted April 15, 2019 at 06:44 PM Have installed the core on the sim PC and on the client GUI + voice. After configuring the software and models on the core I installed the software on the client and managed to connect to Vatsim and hear ATC etc. On the core there are 2 options DBus p2p server (2 computers) where I can select the sim's IP address and a DBus session server. And under Audio set to GUI side. Which of the two options should I select for correct functioning with Client DDBusp2p ot the other. The other issue is that I can select the PTT button (on my yoke connected to sim PC) but on client it doesn't work and if I try set it it fails. What is the correct procedure to set this up in networked configuration. On core all FLAI models loaded but on Client unable to see any and trying to load them fails. Some feedback much appreciated. Thanks for this new client which offers great possibilities but at present a bit complicated. best regards Best regards Joaquin Blanco

Joaquin Blanco Posted April 16, 2019 at 08:21 PM Author Posted April 16, 2019 at 08:21 PM Managed to connect from the office to Discord and posted my queries and Klaus kindly gave me some advice. However upon returning home this evening and trying to connect I keep getting the message that I have to claim my account, when I try doing so tells me email already registered. Also tells me that IP expired and email sent only to be returned to the same problem.Googled this matter and it appears it is a common issue, that has put off many users from using Discord. Tried some suggestions to fix but none worked. Cannot think anything worse than Discord for a support forum. So I'm giving Swift a p[Mod - Happy Thoughts] for now. Roland Rossgotterer 104726 Posted April 17, 2019 at 07:45 AM Posted April 17, 2019 at 07:45 AM While support is easier in Discord (more interactive), I can also give you support from here. Just explain me where your remaining issues are and I try to help you. Also please note that we do this in our free time. We cannot offer 24/7 support, I'll answer as soon as I can. Let me answer to your original question just in case: On the core there are 2 options DBus p2p server (2 computers) where I can select the sim's IP address and a DBus session server. And under Audio set to GUI side. Which of the two options should I select for correct functioning with Client DDBusp2p ot the other. Generally swift works with two computers in a network. The core application (swiftcore) should always run on the simulator PC since it needs to have access to the models. GUI (swiftguistd) can run on any PC in the network. Now the question is, where did you plug in your headset/speakers? Into the core or into the gui machine? Depending on this answer, select one of the two options. The other issue is that I can select the PTT button (on my yoke connected to sim PC) but on client it doesn't work and if I try set it it fails. What is the correct procedure to set this up in networked configuration. In the hotkey selection, there is a combobox as the first line. Select the machine you would like to the hotkey to be configured for. Did you run "Select" and it didn't work? Nothing appeared? On core all FLAI models loaded but on Client unable to see any and trying to load them fails. What did you do exactly? Only core can load the models. What exactly were you trying to do on GUI machine? swift - Technical Manager http://swift-project.org/
Joaquin Blanco Posted April 17, 2019 at 09:05 AM Author Posted April 17, 2019 at 09:05 AM Hello Roland Thanks for responding to my post. First of all let me explain that I have no complaints about your support or expecting immediate reply, my issue is with Discord. Klaus yesterday explained some of my original queries and last night I fixed everything except the PTT. To quickly recap: Core is on sim machine and configured including all FLAi models, and set button 1 on my saitek yoke as the PTT and displays as such with a yellow highlight on the app . Client has GUI +voice installed. Have tested the connection and have managed to connect to Vatsim and able to see aircraft and tune to ATC and hear them. My headset is connected to the Client and when I go to the hotkey it is empty but allows me to select various keyboard keys to configure PTT except button on saitek yoke (on Sim PC) and the PTT icon always remains grey. This is the only issue I have. best regards Best regards Joaquin Blanco
Roland Rossgotterer 104726 Posted April 17, 2019 at 12:41 PM Posted April 17, 2019 at 12:41 PM Good to hear that you got the rest working. Regarding PTT: There is a feature that forwards your PTT key from the sim computer to the GUI computer with the headset attached. Lets ignore for now the fact that the hotkey settings are empty in GUI. If you press your configured button on the core machine, do you see the PTT led blinking in swiftcore and not in swiftgui? Or is no led flashing? swift - Technical Manager http://swift-project.org/

Lets ignore for now the fact that the hotkey settings are empty in GUI. If you press your configured button on the core machine, do you see the PTT led blinking in swiftcore and not in swiftgui? Or is no led flashing? The PTT button selected on Core flashes when pressed but not on the swiftgui. I am attaching links to screenshots of my setup for core and swiftgui. Every executable has been added to antivirus and Firewall on both PCs with IP addresses and port entries. Simconnect already installed on both PCs and working fine with other applications but have not made any additions to files. Finally name, id and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word when saved are missing when the software is restarted, also when using p2p and setting the actual IP address they also are not kept and always defaults to localhost and DB server. I'm sure I have probably made mistakes somewhere but a bit confused and cannot think where. Thanks for taking the time to help me with this and and reply whenever you can. Update 18042019 After having selected as hotkey on keyboard (CTRL Right) in Core & Swiftgui have managed to comunicate with ATC but still unable to use button 1 on yoke. Using DBus P2P Server on both with SimPC's IP address. Going to create a different account on Discord and hopefully won't have any issues this time around. best regards Best regards Joaquin Blanco
Roland Rossgotterer 104726 Posted April 19, 2019 at 08:29 AM Posted April 19, 2019 at 08:29 AM Joaquin, from the screenshots and your description, I'm not entirely sure that core and gui are connected to each other. When running the GUI, the DBus led should be yellow if core is connected. If the led is off and you aren't bombed with error messages, then GUI is running in standalone mode. Lets try to focus on that one first. The correct way of launching swift in distributed environment is the following: 1. Launch swift launcher on core machine first. Select Core mode "GUI and core" depending on which machine you want audio. 2. Select DBus peer to peer server and select the IP interface from the combobox that is reachable from the GUI pc. For example 127.0.0.1 would not be reachable. 192.168.x.x would be in my case. This is the IP core will be listening on. It is very important to not use session server in that case since session server is limited to local machine connections only. 3. Launch swift launcher on GUI machine. Select the same core mode as you selected on the core machine. 4. Select again DBus peer to peer server and type in the IP address you selected in step 2. GUI will try to connect now to core. The DBus led should be yellow now on both gui and core. Also if you look into the core UI, click on the "Status" tab at the bottom. In the showed table, you should see your GUI being listed. Can you confirm that everything is as written above? swift - Technical Manager http://swift-project.org/
Joaquin Blanco Posted April 20, 2019 at 04:19 AM Author Posted April 20, 2019 at 04:19 AM I have followed your instructions to the letter and everything works fine including PTT.
