Manfred Svensson Posted April 19, 2019 at 01:40 AM Posted April 19, 2019 at 01:40 AM I am not so good with network technology but I know I had problems with port forwarding on Xsquawkbox so I opened those ports. I flew Yesterday in the Adriatic region with Swift and I had small comm problems and my question is, does Swift use the same ports for VATSIM? Roland Rossgotterer 104726 Posted April 19, 2019 at 08:38 AM Posted April 19, 2019 at 08:38 AM Manfred, swift is using UDP port 3292 (in contrast to other clients using 3290). If this is causing problems for you and others, we can change back to the default. swift - Technical Manager http://swift-project.org/
Board of Governors Don Desfosse Posted April 19, 2019 at 01:12 PM Board of Governors Posted April 19, 2019 at 01:12 PM Just wondering out loud, something for the design team to consider, I wonder if matching 3290 like all the other clients would make it simpler for our members, as they (should have) already set forwarding for that port already. That said, I have no idea the design benefit [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociated with a different port, so please take my comment with a grain of salt. Roland Rossgotterer 104726 Posted April 19, 2019 at 01:15 PM Posted April 19, 2019 at 01:15 PM The original idea was to coexist with any other client. Whilst this is less of a concern for FSX/P3D, it is for the plugin based clients in the X-Plane family. Not all clients are waiting with resource allocation/locking until they are going to be used. Anyway, since there are many other conflicts already identified, we can also accept that one and go back to the default port. Things will change with AFV anyway soon. swift - Technical Manager http://swift-project.org/
Manfred Svensson Posted April 19, 2019 at 01:36 PM Author Posted April 19, 2019 at 01:36 PM Thanks for the quick answer Roland. Now that I know it is 3292 it really isn't a problem. It would maybe be nice to have it more docomeented (like maybe in the first flight checklist) so that everyone is aware of the difference.
