A number of people have asked me how to set SELCAL up in SB3. Here is a step by step list on the way to do it:

1. Start Microsoft Flight Simulator and then start Squawkbox.

2. Click the Squakwbox Button and choose CONNECT

3. Choose the server, enter your VATSIM ID and P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word, type in your callsign, Home Airport First and Last Names and click on Aircraft to have the list drop down.

4. Click on change aircraft

5. Click on Aircraft List

6. Choose Add or Edit - I personally have all the VOZ Virtual Fleet (the VA I belong to) in my aircraft fleet so I simply choose the air frame I am flying.

7. Enter a name for the aircraft you are adding or editing

8. Choose the Aircraft Type from the drop down list

9. Choose the Airline and Livert from the drop down list

10. The most important part - Enter the SELCAL code in the box

11. Click OK and you're done.

FOR ADDING REALISM, DOWNLOAD AN EXCEL SPREADSHEET WITH ALMOST ALL SELCAL IDS ISSUED WORLDWIDE FROM HERE: http://www.selcal.co.uk/SELCAL.ZIP

Hope this helps.

I actually wrote an alias about this, because I had so many people asking me how to enable it

I'll have to edit it to include this link

...and share your ALIAS here, please

Here ya go - thanks to Norman for the first few

.posformat The correct format for a position report is - Current Waypoint/coordinates, Flight level, mach number. Waypoint/coordinates you are going to next and estimated time there. The name of the NEXT waypoint. Times should be in zulu. Time now is $time Z.

.posrep $callsign copies position $1 time $2, FL $3. Estimate $4 at time $5, thence $6. Report again this station p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing $4

.time The time now in Zulu is $time - Please ensure your clock is set to this time, otherwise all position reports will not be accurate

.time1 Time $time Z.

.sel1 Selcal is SELective CALling. It is used primarily on HF radio, so that the pilot doesn't have to listen to static between position reports. When I need to get your attention, I will send your SELCAL code on frequency, triggering an alert in your cockpit.

.sel2 For SB3: Go to Start -> Change Aircraft. Select your current aircraft. At the bottom of the Aircraft Description window, you will see SELCAL (Optional). You can enter your own code, or use one based on your registration, from this website - http://www.selcalweb.co.uk/

.sel3 Once you have entered your code, press OK, and return to your flight. Inform me of your code, and I will amend your Remarks to note the code, as well as send a SELCAL check on frequency.

.oc1 Leaving my airspace, next sector isn't online. ATC services are terminated, frequency change is approved to UNICOM. Have a great flight!

.ocaclx1 say NAT if applicable, FL and mach number requested for the oceanic crossing

.ocaclx2 cleared to destination $arr via NAT $1, maintain FL $2, mach $3. Go ahead

.uh report in again at $1 Z
