Carl Lei 1419011 Posted April 29, 2019 at 08:34 PM Posted April 29, 2019 at 08:34 PM Is the level of "enforcement" for pre-booking flights during VATSIM events determined by the organizer? I booked a flight during this last weekends EKCH event only to find someone taking my exact callsign and flight before I could log on and file a flight plan. Ultimately it's easy enough for me to just change my callsign and fly it which is what I ended up doing, but then what is the point of having a booking system? Morten Jelle Posted April 30, 2019 at 12:42 AM Posted April 30, 2019 at 12:42 AM Unfortunately callsigns can't be reserved on the network, even though there is a booking system. I understand your point about the purpose of the booking system - however the chance of getting a callsign already in use, will always be existing, and what you did regarding changing your callsign, is the only solution. Martijn Rammeloo Posted April 30, 2019 at 11:32 AM Posted April 30, 2019 at 11:32 AM At EHAM, we use a plugin that (among many other things) warns the DEL controller that an event-callsign was 'hijacked' by another pilot. In such a case, the DEL controller can ask the pilot to use a different callsign. This system is part of our 'outbound-planner', that tries to make sure that booked flights leave at their proper departure-times. Martijn
Morten Jelle Posted April 30, 2019 at 11:35 AM Posted April 30, 2019 at 11:35 AM Unfortunately that plugin isn't made public so it can't be used by anybody else. Morten Jelle VATSIM Network Supervisor, Team Lead - Supervisor Team
