Tamas Bulejsza 907413 Posted January 7, 2005 at 06:01 AM Posted January 7, 2005 at 06:01 AM Hello! First of all let me wish all of you HAPPY NEW YEAR! I have problem with starting the engines on my PMDGs.Both with the 600/700 and 800/900. I follow the instructions written in the tutorial I have downloaded from the PMDG web site and I can manage to start only the left engine. After it starts I turn the right engine start to GND....nothing happens. I tried to start them by using CTRL+E keyboard combination but the result was the same. Only the left side engine started.I would rather say...hardly started but started. Does anybody have alredy had similar problem? What was the solution? Thank you in advance! All the best, Tamas
Orleff Groetenherdt 845551 Posted January 7, 2005 at 08:26 AM Posted January 7, 2005 at 08:26 AM I'm not at home at the moment, so I've to refer to my memory , sorry if I can't describe detailed: Between the two starter knobs there's a selector switch which engine will be proviedet with the essential Power for startup. On my computer by default engine one (left one) is selected (switch points to the left). After starting Engine one you've to change this selector to middle or right position before trying to start engine two. I've missed this once and needed a couple of minuts until I was able to start starboard Engine Hope this will solve your Problem. Ralf Ittmann 858472 Posted January 7, 2005 at 09:17 AM Posted January 7, 2005 at 09:17 AM Hello, make sure your ISOLATION VALVE (the switch between the two PACK switches) is open. Otherwise it is possible that your right engine doesn't get any bleed air - depending on the position of the 2 PACK switches and the engine bleed switches. @Orleff: the selector you are describing doesn't select which engine is started. It only selects the ignition system used for starting the engine. As each engine has 2 ignitors (left and right) it is not important which one you actually use. I'm ashame ... as i wrote, it was from memory and I don't fly my PDMG very often. Of course it is possible that I opened the valve also ... and did not see this point. I'd been convinced, this was the solution, but I think I've come to wrong conclusions. One of the auto throttle indicator - the middle one - flashng red.I reset it and try to switch the a/t again but the result is the same. Have anyone of you had this problem? Marc Sykes 852946 Posted January 7, 2005 at 06:49 PM Posted January 7, 2005 at 06:49 PM Sounds like your engine generators aren't on. After you get the engines running you need to flip the main bus master switches (there are four switches toward the left side of the overhead, just above the APU master switch -- the middle two are the APU bus switches, and the leftmost and rightmost are the main bus masters). Again, the manual should help here, but as far as I know the only reason why you couldn't engage the a/t switch would be that the main generators weren't on.
