For those who participated in the last beta test for Audio for Vatsim, you may have had the opportunity to test out a beta version of vATIS v3. While we wait for the final release of AFV, I have decided to push a build of vATIS v3 that is compatible with the current voice architecture.

With Version 3, I have cleaned up and condensed the user interface to make it more intuitive. Facility engineers will also be happy to know that current facility files that you have created will continue to work with this version.

Here is a summary of all the new features and changes in Version 3.

  • Redesigned user interface
  • In additional to the default legacy D-ATIS voice, there are 5 new English voice accents to choose from (with both male and female genders)
  • Improved METAR parsing engine
  • Added the ability to decode and synthesize international ATIS formats
  • Added the ability to add pre-defined airport conditions and NOTAM statements that can be toggled on or off without having to change the ATIS template or manually type them in

You can read the docomeentation and find the download link for the new version here: http://vatis.clowd.io/beta-docs

The installer has been tweaked to install vATIS in the User Local AppData folder instead of the Roaming AppData folder. If you have trouble loading the new version, you may need to remove a previous version of vATIS and then re-install the new version.

If you encounter any issues while testing the new release, please create a new thread and include as many details as you can. If it's an issue with the METAR or ATIS parsing, please include the METAR report. If you receive an unhandled exception, please copy and paste the exception details. You can also find the exception message saved in the vATIS install directory in a file called AppExceptions.txt.

Controller (C3), Los Angeles ARTCC
