Mid-Summer Madness XIII

We're delighted to announce the latest rendition of VATSIM UK's longest-running event.

On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of August 2018, Birmingham Airport (EGBB) will host its 13th annual Mid Summer Madness Event. Birmingham Airport will be fully staffed from 1000-1900Z (1100-2000 BST) on both days.

There are no flight bookings, so just turn up and fly to and/or from EGBB in whatever you like, whenever you like and as many times as you like! Please help us celebrate the 13th anniversary of this fantastic event by flying in and out of Birmingham - the skies are guaranteed to be busy around EGBB on the 3rd and 4th of August!

Prizes

This year we've again teamed up with UK2000 Scenery, Flight1 Software and Majestic Software. Thanks to the generosity of these fantastic companies, we're able to offer the following prizes to pilots who fly in or out of Birmingham during the event weekend:

UK2000 Scenery http://www.uk2000scenery.com/index.php– for two winners, a product of your choice from their store, either Xtreme range airports or VFR Airfields 1, 2 or 3

Flight1 Software http://www.flight1.com/– for two winners, a product of your choice from their store up to $69.95.

Majestic Software http://majesticsoftware.com/mjc8q400/– Majestic Dash 8 Q400 PRO version

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning one of these amazing prizes is have "MSMXIII" written in your flight plan remarks and fly one whole flight into or out of EGBB during the event timings whilst connected to the VATSIM network. Thanks again to our sponsors who have made this possible. Winners will be selected at random and will be contacted after the event.

Pilot Information:

The transition altitude at EGBB is 6000 feet. The initial climb on all SIDs at EGBB is 6000 feet. There will be a continuous voice and text ATIS for EGBB; please report the information you have onboard upon initial contact with an EGBB controller.

There have been significant changes with the SIDS and STARS at Birmingham recently, please make sure you have up to date AIRAC data and charts.

Demo/Payware FS9, FSX and P3D EGBB Scenery http://www.uk2000scenery.com/newsite/My_Homepage_Files/Page26.html

Freeware EGBB Scenery for FS9, FSX and P3D is also available from flightsim.com https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=displaysearch

Due to the differences between FS default scenery and add-on scenery, installing add-on scenery is highly encouraged.

Most of your controllers and a few of your fellow pilots will also be sat in the same room, and perhaps enjoying a beer or two! We really hope you can help us make this the best Mid Summer Madness event yet!

We hope to see you there!
