Romano Lara Posted July 26, 2019 at 03:26 AM Posted July 26, 2019 at 03:26 AM Hello! For the tech folks :cough: Ross cough: Don I recently changed my network setup, wherein my routers operation mode is set as access point, connected via LAN to my modem. I also chose a smart DHCP in the LAN type setup in the AP so the router's DHCP will not startup. I also checked the modem, it's not handling any DHCP since I also disabled its wireless. Question--do I still need to setup port forwarding to keep vPilot/VRC from timing out ports? I must also mention that when I checked the router configuration page, there are no options for port forwarding, unless I switch to 'Wireless Router' mode. (I'm using TL-WR840N). Or this setup is effectively the same as being connected directly to the router; therefore no need to setup port forwarding, etc. Romano LaravACC Philippines, Manager - Training & Standards
Ross Carlson Posted July 26, 2019 at 01:56 PM Posted July 26, 2019 at 01:56 PM If you set your router to AP mode, what is doing your routing? Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Romano Lara Posted July 26, 2019 at 04:32 PM Author Posted July 26, 2019 at 04:32 PM That bit I'm not sure myself. My modem is actually a modem+wifi, but I disable its wireless functions. I can only [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume that while I'm connected to the AP; the network sees this as if a LAN connection directly to the router as if wired? Sorry, my knowledge on these things is very limited Romano LaravACC Philippines, Manager - Training & Standards

Romano Lara Posted July 27, 2019 at 12:16 AM Author Posted July 27, 2019 at 12:16 AM It's the one provided by our ISP; PROLiNK PRS1841U. I'm currently flying right now...and hopefully no port timeouts. Romano LaravACC Philippines, Manager - Training & Standards
Ross Carlson Posted July 27, 2019 at 01:43 AM Posted July 27, 2019 at 01:43 AM Yeah, so that device is your router, and that's where you would set up port forwarding.
