So I’ve recently decided to get involved with this experience and so far I like it. The problem is, I’m using infinite flight on my mobile. So it’s very limited, as I see people on YouTube achieving much more with complex systems. So I do not have a PC right now, but I will soon. But the last thing I wanna do is buy a whole system and it doesn’t work out. Is it unheard of to have a PC that can contain the entire game and all regions without seeing “Not enough storage”? My goal is too run all regions (unless I can’t) to get the ultimate experience. Any help as to what I should look for in a system?

Thank you all in advance.

Hi Nicholas and welcome to VATSIM.

Mobile simulators is not something we currently support. We don't have any clients for them nor even know if they could interact with one.

Most people use either FSX/P3D or X-Plane. Both of these start off with a base sim but allow you to land and take off at most airports around the globe. If you want airports that are more closer to real life then you can buy or download add on airports. These will vary in detail and complexity and therefore the space required will differ.

When buying a PC your finances will be something you need to consider first and foremost.

To clarify, are you asking for tips to choosing PC specs?

Having scenery for the whole world is not unheard of, you can easily do that with X-Plane 11 or P3D (or others).

An extra hard drive is one of the cheapest components I have ever added to my computer. Scenery should be stored on Hard Drive, not SSD. Most scenery can be installed on a location separate from the medium the simulator or operating system are installed on (ie, D:\ instead of C:\ ) and then the scenery indexing process points the simulator to where the scenery is

Some scenery makes this more difficult with their installer software. However this too can be overcome

I am currently running a 250GB SSD and have over 500GB of scenery installed. Because it's all on my 2TB hard drive.

The biggest issue is getting a fast enough processor, graphics card, and ram. 16gb of ram is enough. 8 will suffice. Less then that and your simulator will sing you the song of it's people on a regular basis

Xplane and Prepar3d v4 are 64 bit systems. They can use all the ram you have installed. FSX and earlier are 32 bit systems. They will sing you the song of their people regardless of how much ram you spent money on having in your PC case.

Ah yes the good ol’ OOM chant. Being an FSX user myself I still get those from time to time and it’s probably the most annoying thing about these 32 bit sims.
