Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted October 19, 2019 at 04:46 AM Board of Governors Posted October 19, 2019 at 04:46 AM Trying to get on AFV as a controller first time. Using VATSIM CID and P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word but error msg comes up saying Authentication Failre. Check ID/P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word. Same ID/p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word I am using to connect to all other features-carefully cheked 5 times so I am baffled. Board of Governors Don Desfosse Posted October 22, 2019 at 12:47 AM Board of Governors Posted October 22, 2019 at 12:47 AM Hi Roger -- a couple of things to check. 1. Copying and pasting the p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word, and inadvertently copying an extra space character at the end (I think it's a Windows thing (?) ) 2. Make sure you're using correct capitalization for your p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word. The FSD server ignored that, but the AFV server requires correct capitalization, so it's possible that you can log onto the network but not voice if using incorrect capitalization in your p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word. Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted October 22, 2019 at 03:16 AM Author Board of Governors Posted October 22, 2019 at 03:16 AM I queried VATSIM.net for a p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word reminder and received verification that I am entering the correct p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word so now I am completely baffled as to why it is not working. I am running latest version of VRC. Roger Curtiss VATGOV12 VP-Virtual Airlines & Special Ops r.curtiss(at)vatsim.net
Mark Barnes Posted October 22, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted October 22, 2019 at 11:05 AM Please try again after 1300z today. (Ensuring you use the correct casing in your p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word)
Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted October 23, 2019 at 07:30 AM Author Board of Governors Posted October 23, 2019 at 07:30 AM Do not know what you did Mark Barnes, but I am now able to get logged on to AFV. Much appreciated. Roger Curtiss VATGOV12 VP-Virtual Airlines & Special Ops r.curtiss(at)vatsim.net
Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted October 26, 2019 at 01:47 AM Author Board of Governors Posted October 26, 2019 at 01:47 AM ...and now I am not. Same Authentication Failure message. So I guess my first question is: what occurred between my original posts and Mark Barnes' reply to wait until after a certain time to try again? Nestor Perez Posted October 26, 2019 at 07:02 PM Posted October 26, 2019 at 07:02 PM Just a wild guess, but I'm sure this is the case: Have you logged in with a different client? For example, did you log on with vPilot last time and standalone this time? Have you tried using again whichever one you used first? Me.
Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted October 27, 2019 at 03:50 AM Author Board of Governors Posted October 27, 2019 at 03:50 AM I have logged on with vPilot a few times since Oct. 14 with no issues at all. However, I am certainly not trying to use vPilot as a controller or stand-alone as a pilot. Each log on has been for entirely different sessions. Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted November 5, 2019 at 10:24 PM Author Board of Governors Posted November 5, 2019 at 10:24 PM I uninstalled and reinstalled AFV and that solved the problem. Don't know why I did not think to try that earlier! Roger Curtiss VATGOV12 VP-Virtual Airlines & Special Ops r.curtiss(at)vatsim.net
