Beside the official duties spelled out below, we expect most of the focus of this position to be on the strategic and tactical management of training, and collaborating with senior ARTCC management in shaping up the future of ZDC. Read more about us at this link Main duties as defined by VATUSA include: * Reports to the ZDC Air Traffic Manager; collaterally responsible to the VATUSA Training Director and is responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of ZDC's training program.' * Functions as a VATUSA Training staff member. Attends periodic meetings to report on training activities and issues and to stay abreast of issues which may involve VATUSA training. * Provides the Training Director with reports on the general state of the training department of the ARTCC. * Establishes a Training web page and oversees its maintenance. For ZDC we are looking to use technology/workflow tools to streamline the training management process. * Recruits and nominates Center Instructor candidates to the VATUSA Training Department. * [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ists the Training Director in monitoring the performance and activity of Center Instructors. * Conducts controller testing and training as defined, and in accordance with the VATUSA Training Department. * Works in conjunction with the Air Traffic Manager to establish a staff of "mentors" to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist new controllers and guests, and to monitor their performance. * Maintains close communications with the Training Director on all training matters * Performs center instructor duties when necessary. * Maintains an online presence on the VATSIM network. Qualifications The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications: * VATSIM Staff Instructor (I1) rating or higher. * 6 months or more experience as Instructor. * Excellent VATSIM disciplinary record. * Provide at least two references to vouch for your performance and character. * Project/Program management skills * People and staff management skills a plus. * Excellent communications and teamwork skills Application Process Interested candidates should follow the process detailed below: * Submit an application via email to tawanted(at)zdcartcc.org indicating the following: o Full Name, VATSIM CID, Rating, Current ARTCC/FIR o Statement of qualifications: A statement ideally not more than one page long indicating why you are interested in taking this position, and particularly, what attracts you to ZDC.
