New to VATSIM, not so new to flight simulation

Good evening everyone.

So like the title says I'm new to online flying, including VATSIM, but I'm very familiar with flight simulation, in short I can properly setup a flight an including filing the flight plan, SID, ROUTE, STAR and APP. I do have knowledge about ATC terminalogy/phraseology, i've been using Pilot2ATC on my offline flights, it's not perfect but it's a value learning source, though sometimes it's very hard for the software to "understand" my voice.

I decided to give a "GO FLIGHT" on this world of virtual aviation network.

I already did a short VFR flight on a Cessna, monitoring UNICOM frequency 122.800, and requesting flight following on a controlled air space.

Now I'm trying to do a IFR flight with the Toliss A319, but some how I can't get the radio working. I set up frequency properly but it doesn't transmit, I don't know if it receives either. I've tried with the Zibo and it works fine.

And last, i've read on the PRC, IFR clearences on uncontrolled airports have specific instructions but I didn't find any info about it. How do I get clearence on a uncontrolled airport? I've contacted Center Control but didn't get any response.

Should I start the flight on my own, until reaching controlled airspace?

Thank you all
