Can anyone clarify if any of the VATSIM Data servers are working?

I cannot seem to get a connection to any of the data servers to get current data. The only way I vcan get current data is by using the "VATSIM's Whos online" option.

The data servers I have listed are:

level27.ca

vatsim.info

vatsim.metacraft.com

I have tried disabling my anti-virus software and the XP Firewall, which yields no solution.

I am using a PC with XP SP2 (Which could be the problem, but I am not sure).

I am not sure whats going on and if anyone can offer [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istance it would be great.

Yes, they are working. I'm not sure what might be causing the problems you're seeing.

I think with XP's firewall you have to go in to it and manual tell it to let a program get out the net. But i could be wrong it happens from time to time...

Does anyone know what ports Servinfo uses?

I can try to manually configure them through XPs firewall.

Servinfo are a pure IP-client, this mean normaly no port are required to be opened manual by user.

An antivirus can lock some outgoing messages, but if the port is 80 and your web-browser works, than sure the Servinfo should work also regarding ports.

Explanation:

IP-client mean Servinfo ask for data from VASTIM, and the port should be hold open automatically for receiving during a timeout.

Not always ... most firewall applications are program-specific, not just port-specific. In other words, each program that needs port 80 has to be approved individually in the firewall, if outgoing requests are regulated.

Just curious, have you checked your PC clock to ensure that the time/date/time zone are all correct? If not, you will get the message that the VATSIM Data is out of date.

Sometimes , the Servinfo server goes down . This outage can last from a few minutes to a few hours . Chances are , there is nothing wrong with either your setup or installation of Servinfo. Just keep trying the different servers until it comes back online.

I have been trying to get onto VATSIM for a couple of days now with no luck (in FS2k2). I have read everything I can and got help turning off WXPSP2's uPNP service to allow Squawkbox to join the session, but still cannot get connected to ATC servers.

My questions are;

- do I need to re-register Squawkbox in FSUIPC each time I want to use Squawkbox (I have unregistered FSUIPC)?

But whether I re-register SB each time or not doesn't help my next problem...

- Does anyone know why I cannot see any VATSIM servers in the Squawkbox Connect form (message on form is "(No server information available)"), and even typing them in (e.g., "VATSIM: USA-S3" gives a "host not found" error message)?

Thanks - Rob

Just an update...

I have downloaded Whazzup (Similar in concept to Servinfo) and it works fine.

I cannot figure out why servinfo will not work.

I still cannot get ServInfo to display VATSIM data but works fine with IVAO. Has this problem been resolved? I have searched but I'm not coming up with any solutions.

Hi Morgan,

I had the same problem (new PC so I had to re-install everything) - turns out that my PC's clock had to be set up correctly (time zone setting as well). I believe that ServInfo does a check against your PC's time and if it does not match the time on the server, it throws an exception.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Alex
