As per NOTAM:

A0595/06 (09/027) - RUNWAY CLOSED 08R/26L WIE UNTIL 08 NOV 06:30

Runways 8R and 26L are closed for ZTL operations effective September 11, 2006 until November 8th. 2006.

South operations will continue as normal. North operations will use Runway 8L and 26 right for Take Offs and Landings. However, if traffic demands, the Southern runways can be used.

Remember, The FLCON arrival uses 27L and 9R, so this should help with congestion.

In addition, use extreme caution when taxing aircraft due to construction equipment on ruway 8R-26L.

Only use Taxiways H (Hotel) and E (Echo ) at the far ends until further notice. Aircraft may not use any high speed taxiways, or cross 8R and 26L. Cross only at the far ends.

Thank you for your patience.

Dennis

Might have to sticky this one until November.

Or better yet, NOTAM it on the ZTL website, so it's available for everyone on the main page.

Or even better than that, perhaps one of us can come up with a comprehensive, but searchable list of NOTAMs for all of VATUSA, similar to https://www.notams.jcs.mil. They could just be relevant to VATSIM only, possibly limited to the major airports in a respective sector, and up to the relevant sector on if they want to implement the NOTAM.

Just a thought..

So far, everyone has gotten the message. Or at lest my controllers have.

I've posted it several places, and the Home Page is not a bad idea either.

Thanks

I know that Atlanta is, for whatever reason, no longer maintaining SimRoutes (last admin user was Justin Wilcox who last logged in September 2005) but it does support NOTAMS such as this.

Currently ZLA is using this NOTAM system to remind pilots that LAX 25L, LAS 19L, and ONT 26? are closed. ZOA is also using it with respect to a closure at San Jose. (To check this out view a route in SimRoutes that involves any of KLAX, KONT, KSJC, or KLAS).

Might be helpful for the pilots who do use SimRoutes for plans in and out of your skies. In case you are saying to yourself "none of our pilots use SimRoutes", here are some usage stats for KATL alone that might prove it would be good idea to add this NOTAM to SimRoutes:

Routes in/out of KATL: 252

Total users viewing details of a route originating or terminating at KATL since 3/8/2005: 24,792 (average 45 queries/ day).

So in an average week, SimRoutes users would view the DETAILS of a route that contained KATL as a destination or origin approximately 315 times.

ZTL also has over 300 routes involving OTHER airports in their sky. I'm simply too lazy to extract the stats on them since i've already made my point and they don't really matter since the runway closure has nothing to do with them.

Feel free to contact me if interested.
