Scott Engelhardt 1394065 Posted January 23, 2020 at 10:36 PM Posted January 23, 2020 at 10:36 PM I am currently using Xpilot version 1.1.9.1. It has been unresponsive lately whenever I try and use it for a normal flight. I initiate xpilot, connect, enter my flight plan, etc. I just use it like I normally would. And then after a few minutes have p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed, the plugin freezes and is not responsive. Normally I use alt+tab to put it on my screen when I need it too, but it will not respond. In attempt to access the plugin when it would not respond with alt+tab, I would just put it at one of the bottom corners of the screen. When I click it it just freezes and a message pops up saying the plugin is not responding... This plugin is absolutely fantastic, hope someone can help me get it back to normal again. Justin Shannon Posted January 24, 2020 at 06:12 AM Posted January 24, 2020 at 06:12 AM When you say "plugin", I [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume you mean the xPilot client? Is your computer perhaps running low on resources (CPU and/or memory) when this occurs? Ryan Breaker 1386739 Posted January 25, 2020 at 03:38 PM Posted January 25, 2020 at 03:38 PM I'm running into the same problem on 1.2.1.0, and yes it's the client UI that goes unresponsive not the plugin itself, X-Plane continues on fine regardless of the xPilot client. After some amount of time, usually around 10 minutes for me, the client will just go unresponsive. I will still hear audio but I can't do anything else and have to force-close it; had to cancel one of my flights last night because of it. I'm certainly not running low on any resources (32GB RAM and other high-end hardware). My plugin and network logs don't show anything helpful, they just end with the last entry without any error message unless there are logs elsewhere to reference. Any help would be appreciated, if I can find the downloads I'll try an earlier version as well as this started after updating to 1.2.1.0 for me, though I haven't flown since I think 1.8 was out. Please let me know what I can do to help debug this. Edit: An update, it appears to only happen when connected with traffic around, but what triggers the crash I can't tell. I've been sitting on the ground for a while doing some pre-flight at an airport without ATC and little traffic and so far it's been fine so far. Pat Fuge Posted February 2, 2020 at 08:01 PM Posted February 2, 2020 at 08:01 PM (edited) I'm also having the exact problem with X-Pilot 1.2.1.0... My Computer specs are more than sufficient enough to rule out performance induced problems. (9900ks @5ghz, 32gb ram, only X-Plane and X-Pilot running). I can start X-Pilot before or after X-Plane starts and have the same "Freeze Up" of X-Pilot after a few minutes. The VATSIM Audio continues but the X-Pilot becomes unresponsive after 3-10 minutes. I have to open W10 Task Manager to "end processes". Strangely when X-Pilot is operating and VATSIM Audio is working I see no traffic when they can see me. Both these phenomenon are interrelated and actually disappeared yesterday for a few hours. I've reinstalled X-Pilot. Presently I'm trying to see if starting the X-Pilot Client without X-Plane cause a "Freeze Up". The X-Pilot Application only "Hangs" after a connection to VATSIM. The Windows 10 Event Viewer reports a "Hang Type: Cross-Thread. Still trying to figure this problem out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Justin Shannon Posted February 2, 2020 at 08:25 PM Posted February 2, 2020 at 08:25 PM I'm honestly not sure what could be causing it to "freeze" as I'm not able to reproduce it. For those having this issue, could you upload the full contents of your X-Plane log.txt file after the freezing occurs? Pat Fuge Posted February 2, 2020 at 10:23 PM Posted February 2, 2020 at 10:23 PM (edited) Shannon Thanks for the quick reply, I've appended my original thread to include the W10 Event View info. I'm included my latest X-Plane log.txt renamed X-Pilot_log.txt. https://pastebin.com/raw/j1wdky95 Edited February 2, 2020 at 10:47 PM by Guest
Justin Shannon Posted February 2, 2020 at 10:44 PM Posted February 2, 2020 at 10:44 PM Pat, It looks to me like the xPilot X-Plane plugin that you have installed is an older version. The line that says "xPilot: Multiplayer planes acquired" has been changed to print "xPilot: Multiplayer planes have been successfully acquired" which was changed quite a few versions ago. When you update xPilot, you need to close X-Plane first. Can you try re-installing xPilot and try again? Pat Fuge Posted February 2, 2020 at 11:29 PM Posted February 2, 2020 at 11:29 PM Justin Looks like a FIX. I can now see traffic. You are correct that I most likely downloaded v1.1.2.0 and forgot to disconnect from X-Plane. Learned my lesson. Thanks again for the help and time to fly.
