Dougal McTavish 1464942 Posted February 24, 2020 at 03:50 PM Posted February 24, 2020 at 03:50 PM I need some help and advice please guys. Or at least pointing to where I can get this information… Some of you may have heard of us at ‘The SimWings Community Support Project’ We are very new and details can be found here: https://www.simwingssupport.com/ We are a non-profit project trying to help new flightsimmers. We have a livery for several aircraft, and need to know HOW to register a callsign acceptable to Vatsim. We know exactly what we want, but have no idea how to make this happen. Any and ALL help MUCH appreciated Thanks
Tomas Hansson Posted February 24, 2020 at 04:54 PM Posted February 24, 2020 at 04:54 PM Dougal, hello and welcome to VATSIM! All callsigns on VATSIM are on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no way to "reserve" a callsign for your exclusive use. All callsigns (with a few exceptions as stated in the Code of Conduct https://www.vatsim.net/docomeents/code-of-conduct A12 and A17) are valid and acceptable. If you are using an unusual of fictitious callsign it may be a good idea to add an explanation in your flight plan's remarks section. Dougal McTavish 1464942 Posted February 24, 2020 at 05:18 PM Author Posted February 24, 2020 at 05:18 PM Hello Tomas and thanks for detailed response. It is indeed a fictitious airline called 'Simwings Support' lol So, do we not need to register it in some way?
Tomas Hansson Posted February 24, 2020 at 05:24 PM Posted February 24, 2020 at 05:24 PM So, do we not need to register it in some way? Correct. Connect and fly! Tomas Hansson
Nestor Perez Posted February 24, 2020 at 06:27 PM Posted February 24, 2020 at 06:27 PM (edited) You can add your callsign here (http://gng.aero-nav.com/AERONAV/icao_request_vairlines) for many/most controllers to know what your radio callsign is, but nothing other than that Edited February 25, 2020 at 04:40 PM by Guest Me. Tim Wong Posted February 25, 2020 at 02:09 AM Posted February 25, 2020 at 02:09 AM Various aircraft model packages are available for different flight simulators. Here is a list of the most popular packages. You may contact the developers so that your VA liveries will be included in future. X-Plane: Bluebell CSL: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/37041-bluebell-obj8-csl-packages/ X-CSL: https://csl.x-air.ru/?lang_id=43 FSX/P3D VATSIM FLAI: http://flai.bvartcc.com/ FS2004/FSX WOAI: https://www.world-of-ai.com/ As for callsign registrations, there are no standard procedures on VATSIM because each and every Flight Information Region (FIR), virtual Area Control Centre (vACC) and Air Route Traffic Control centre (ARTCC) has its own way to generate the required data for air traffic control. However, Global Nav Generator offered by the AeroNav [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociation is a good starting point where lots of different vACCs participate: http://gng.aero-nav.com/AERONAV/icao_request_vairlines If it does not help, you may get in contact with the individual FIRs/vACC/ARTCCs where you mostly fly. Robert Shearman Jr Posted February 25, 2020 at 09:58 PM Posted February 25, 2020 at 09:58 PM You may contact the developers so that your VA liveries will be included in future.{...} VATSIM FLAI: http://flai.bvartcc.com/ I don't speak for them, but last I recall, the FLAI curators are not interested in adding liveries for fictional airlines. However, vPilot and Swift are both capable of running multiple model-match rules, set up in a hierarchy such that certain rules / parameters are prioritized and certain liveries used in situations meeting those criteria. Your best bet would be to circulate the FSX / P3D liveries among VA members and create a step-by-step guide for model-match rule creation for both clients. Again, that was my understanding last time I kept up with FLAI so apologies if that policy / philosophy is outdated. Cheers, -R.
