Saturday, October 7th, 1700Z, ZMP (Minneapolis Center) will be hosting their very own "D-Day" event! We invite flyers from around the world to visit a sampling of our fine Cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] D tower facilities in and around the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area: KANE, KMIC, KFCM, KSTP, and of course, KMSP.

Every airport has IAP's and full VFR/IFR services from the quality controllers at vZMP. Minneapolis TRACON will also be staffed, providing the perfect opportunity for pilots to practice multiple instrument approach procedures between the different airports around MSP!

What: D-Day, an event showcasing Tower Ops at ZMP

When: Saturday Oct. 7 at 1200 CDT (1700Z)

Where: For this session, we will staff up Tower Cab facilities at the M98 airports - KANE, KMIC, KFCM, KSTP, and of course KMSP.

Why: To focus on the plentiful facilities we have at ZMP, to enhance training, to attract pilots to more airports than just KMSP, and of course to HAVE FUN!

How: Go to http://zmp.vatusa.org/ for more details

We'll see you in Minneapolis this Saturday!

Great event name! I love it.

We can't take credit for it tho...I think a few other ARTCC's have had D-Days (ZLA comes to mind). But thanks!

Yep, I know we've used that name before, and let me just say, the event has always been a blast! It's a much needed break from the big-field fly-ins, and the pilots have always loved it.

Good luck with the event you guys!

It was a great event! I had three pilots all in the pattern and they all wondered when the next one will be. It'll be in two weeks and we'll feature another couplo airports for your enjoyment!

Good job Tim...and to the other controllers that came out and opened towers around KMSP. I managed to hit all three fields. It is nice to get away from the fly-in conga lines, sids and stars, and the heavies every now and then. THX again to all.
