strange Mic issue

I notice a very eradic behaviour with the mic settings

I am using a sennheiser USB mic/headset , nothing fancy here

I make a flight , all is fine connected to vatsim,fly for one hour

then disconnect from vatsim

come back later , change airport ( even without exiting x-plane)

now the software does not recognize the mic , only a complete restart of xplane solves that issue, this behavior is really very annoying

the mic works perfectly fine in other apps like skype etc even when xp decides to ignore it (TX/RX icons, tx remains black)

the pulldown shows the mic as being available, it just will not connect

any thoughts?
