Norman Blackburn Posted October 7, 2006 at 08:17 AM Posted October 7, 2006 at 08:17 AM Steven, FS9 uses Direct X FSInn and SB3 hook into elements of this (DirectPlay and Networking). If one is broke the other will be also. Whilst I am not saying that the Winsockfix is 100% trusted, I know it has reset the TCPStack for many hundreds of VATSIM users without ill effect. As I advised previously, when you run this fix it gives you an option of making a backup. You may also want to set a restore point in XP too. Either way, short of wiping your mother's computer, for this to work you need to bite that bullet and run the fix. Norman

Norman Blackburn Posted October 7, 2006 at 10:50 AM Posted October 7, 2006 at 10:50 AM Steven, The reason this fix is needed is generally (but not always) down to spyware and its removal. I will look on the Microsoft Knowledgebase to see if I can find an article to support this which will hopefully show your mother that it isn't just for flightsim.
