Andreas Elesky Posted April 26, 2020 at 02:16 PM Posted April 26, 2020 at 02:16 PM Hello, How do you Register your virtual airline with Vatsim so that the controllers, SimAware and others recognize the registration? To be clear this is a fictitious airline with no real counterpart. Thanks Andy Elesky
Mats Edvin Aaro Posted April 26, 2020 at 02:39 PM Posted April 26, 2020 at 02:39 PM Hi Andreas! VATSIM has no centralized database for callsigns. If you have a VA with a unique callsign/identifier, you are advised to state it in the flight plan remarks, for example: "CALLSIGN//EXAMPLEAIR" or "C/S EXAMPLEAIR". 🙂 Not all controllers will read the remarks at first, but direct them to read your remarks, or say something like "be advised, callsign EXAMPLEAIR". Hope that helps you! Mats Edvin Aaro Posted April 26, 2020 at 03:03 PM Posted April 26, 2020 at 03:03 PM In a previous thread, Maius - the guy behind SimAware said that they don't have any database for getting VA callsigns. The database he uses is the real ICAO callsign database. 🙂 Mats Edvin AarøAssistant to the Vice President - Supervisors VATSIM General Manager: Member Engagement[email protected]

Interesting idea, or maybe VATSIM could maintain a list of all approved (or user-maintained list of all) VA's that can be injected into the airlines.txt in Euroscope? Hmmm... 😄 Mats Edvin AarøAssistant to the Vice President - Supervisors VATSIM General Manager: Member Engagement[email protected]

Hi Andreas, I will take a look at this for SimAware - however, some VA's currently conflict with real-world callsigns, i.e. CXA is both "Xiamen Air" and "Canadian Express", so I may not be able to implement everyone. Andreas Fuchs Posted April 26, 2020 at 08:42 PM Posted April 26, 2020 at 08:42 PM I know. In the swift database VAs have a VA-prefix to separate them from real-world codes. Maius Wong Posted April 29, 2020 at 12:40 PM Posted April 29, 2020 at 12:40 PM That's a good approach in some circumstances, but it's not much of a hassle to ask users to specify their VA when connecting to VATSIM. It's an entirely different story when you have to rely on circumstantial evidence (is CXA201 flying from YVR-YYZ Xiamen Air or Canadian Xpress?) - the rulesets would be a mess. 1 Maius WongWebmaster Minneapolis ARTCCDeveloper simaware.ca / map.vatsim.net
