Andreas Fuchs Posted January 18, 2005 at 01:19 PM Posted January 18, 2005 at 01:19 PM Dear friends at VATSIM, today is January 18, 2005. It is truely a day to remember! We got three important events that we look at: => the weather is horrible in most parts of Europe ==> Airbus rolls out the new gigantic Airbus A380 ===> VATSIM-Europe launches the all new EUROBOOK FOR PILOTS!!! As you can see, the last point is the most important and makes a great day for VATSIM-Europe and in some way it is an important day for the whole of VATSIM as well! What's going on? EUROBOOK was initially launched as centralized ATC-reservation system only and over the past months Arek Olesiak from Poland has created a completely new reservation system for all pilots flying in Europe. If you surf to EUROBOOK you can see a map of Europe which is showing active and inactive FIRs in different colors, together with detailed statistics. If you click on a certain FIR you will get a more detailed status about booked flights that are expected in this FIR at certain times. You can filter the times and dates according to your needs. More details and information about all this can be found in the section "Information" of the website of EUROBOOK for pilots. If you wish to book a flight and your local VACC or VA has not registered its local flight-booking-interface with us, you need to register with EUROBOOK. This is to avoid misuse of the system, we ask for your understanding. Make sure you do NOT use your regular VATSIM p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word! The data is basically safe on EUROBOOK's server, but the safest way is to keep it strictly with you. Expect more and more VACCs and VAs to join EUROBOOK. If your Virtual Airline is interested in joining us, please register as an organization at our website! You reach EUROBOOK for pilots at http://www.euro-book.net/ After logging in, you have many more functions available! If you book a flight and enter your point of departure and destination, EUROBOOK for pilots will automatically search for available routings in the databases of EURoute and VACC-SAG's FPC. After selecting an existing route or just entering a new one, you will have the possibility to print a detailed flightlog for your route and a short summary will be available as well. The system still has two little disadvantages which we are working on: ==> VACCs still need to implement communication with the new system. In the meantime all pilots need to access the booking via the main page http://www.euro-book.net . As soon as the booking-interfaces have been included on the local VACC- and VA-pages, you can book flights from there as well. ==> ServInfo needs to be updated and EUROBOOK for pilots needs to feed data to SI so it can display ATC and planned flights. We are also evaluating the possibility of having an alternate external program for all aspects of flight preparation that handles the planning of a flight, calculating performance and weight-data and finally filing it with VATSIM and booking it with EUROBOOK. After all, our next short-term goal is: ==> Move EUROBOOK for ATC as well into the same system. For this, some small adjustments need to be made. This WILL come soon! In a final step, after testing and improving it here in Europe, we would like to move on and rename EUROBOOK into VATBOOK! Imagine what this will mean - everybody in our VATSIM-world will be able to book and lookup booking data for ATC and flights at one single place. For the whole world! As you can see we are just at the beginning of something completely new and promising, made by volunteers and enthusiasts! Stay tuned for more! At this point I would like to emphasize how much I enjoy working with our friends vom Poland VACC, especially with Arek Olesiak and Michal Rok. We had some difficult times last year but all this was cleared up by good will, professionalism and we sticked to the system that you can use now. It is an important lesson to the entire community here: don't give up if you encounter some clear air turbulence, keep on going. The outcome will be rewarding! For now, go and book your flights! ATC, have a look who will fly and adapt your online presence accordingly! Arkadiusz Olesiak 814462 Posted March 17, 2005 at 06:17 PM Posted March 17, 2005 at 06:17 PM Let's go on board with a briefcase ! HI ALL ! Welcome to the new EUROBOOK Pilot Briefcase You can use this briefcase in your web browser or you can take it on board (FS2004 - Kneeboard) New EUROBOOK Pilot Briefcase has got all previously existing features. Some of them have been thorougly changed and extended. I especially suggest taking a look at a new procedure - "Book Flight". Printable Briefing with Flight Plan, METAR, TAF, Navigation LOG + traffic_forrecast_information is still avaialble, but NOW you don't have to print it. All information is available on board! For Active Flight (you can choice which one), current online ATC information (callsign, freq, ATIS, Fullname etc) for departure and arrival airports as well as for enroute FIR's is available in your Navigation LOG. Installation in FS is VERY EASY ! - A MUST!!! Even if you use different web browser, you have to log in to EUROBOOK Pilot Briefcase using Internet Explorer at least once! (www.euro-book.net) After that, you can exit the browser. - Download http://www.euro-book.net/nobrief.zip - unzip file "nobrief.htm" and copy (overwrite!) into your FS_directory/UIRES/ How to use: - run FS2004 - open Kneeboard (from menu or press F10) - logon EUROBOOK Pilot Briefcase You can close Kneeboard, and if you open it agian after a short time, relogging shouldn't be needed. Some modules have a "thumbtack" (right top corner). If you switch it on - this module will be open in a previously selected place. I hope that you will find this idea useful. Next ones coming! Enjoy using EUROBOOK Arek Olesiak Regards, Arek EUROBOOK`s author Q: How to get above indicator ?
