The 16th of May 2020 between 1700 and 2100z will see the Dutch VACC and VATSIM UK bring back the ever loved Amsterdam – London Heathrow City Pair. On a typical day, this specific airport pairing will see around 15 flights that connect two of Europe’s largest hub airports.

Normally this event is held during September, but the weekend marks the 100th anniversary of the first KLM flight (ever) from London to Amsterdam on 17th of May 1920 in an Airco DH 16. Since then, many aircraft types have had the pleasure of flying this 230 mile hop across the North Sea although nowadays, more time is spent traversing the hold at LAM and the ‘short taxi’ to the Polderbaan.

Come and join us for this action-packed city pair, and remember to bring lots of fuel, stroopwafels for the long taxi at Schiphol, and jugs of tea for the LAM hold

Pilot Notam:

Hold at Lambourne (LAM) = Left Hand hold, inbound course 263

Hold at BRASO Left Hand hold, inbound course 263

Hold at SABERLeft Hand hold, inbound course 263

Hold at LOGAN Left Hand hold, inbound course 289

Routes:

EGLL – EHAM = BPK Q295 BRAIN M197 REDFA Max level 230, (we know the real restriction is higher, but for the event we are applying the restriction of 230)

EHAM – EGLL = IDRID L980 LOGAN(1H)(Max level FL240)
